For some, he's the most obnoxious medium in the game, offering insane amounts of engagement potential and a fair amount of volume to boot. For others, he's a midlaner who never loses his priority, always ready to wander and ruin someone else's day. Since its release, Nautilus has been known as an almost unstoppable juggernaut - but how does players of League of Legends' most popular medium stand out from the crowd?
Control the bushes
Something that's really effective for supports - and melee engagement supports like Nautilus in particular - applies pressure by sitting out of sight and threatening an engagement. Starting with an unconventional Oracle lens at level 1 allows you to deny enemy vision and choose fights as you wish, ensuring lane priority almost immediately.
Different capacities for different situations
The Titan of the Depths has more than a few utility-oriented skills in its kit. Access to a snare, pull, hit and more than its fair share of stuns puts Nautilus in a league of its own when it comes to crowd control.
With so many tools available, however, which one is best to take at level 1? You can take Q-Dredge Line to engage early, by unhooking a hook for a first set of clutch blood. The other main option is E-Riptide, pushing waves (literally) into an area of effect and dealing decent damage to any enemies unlucky enough to get caught in the radius. This will ensure both early priority and faster access to your level 2 powerpike.
Make your R account
Something often underestimated is the second ultimate component of Nautilus - Depth Charge. Targeted knock-up will apply to one enemy, but if you tilt it correctly you can grab several - set up a friendly Yasuo for some ultimate great play or just create more mayhem.
