Riot Games' popular online battle arena multiplayer video game League of Legends was first introduced in Japan with a beta release in 2016. With an ever-growing player base and reach, many fans want change the language of their client. However, the only languages currently available on the client - for the most part - are English, German, Spanish, French and Italian.
The release of a new League of Legends launcher has slightly changed the method of changing your client's audio and text to Japanese. Nevertheless, it only requires a few easy steps.
- Navigate to the League of Legends folder
- Go to: "Ce PC> Disque local (C :)> Riot Games> League of Legends"
- OU Right click on your League of Legends client
- Click on Properties and select "Open file location"
- Right click on LeagueClient.exe »
- Click on "Create shortcut"
- Users DOIT create a shortcut using the steps above
- Drag the shortcut to your desktop
- Add the Japanese locale to the shortcut by:
- Right click on the new League of Legends shortcut
- Navigate to the "Target" area, where it should say:
- C: Riot Games League of Legends LeagueClient.exe
- Add two spaces at the end of the text string
- Copy and paste then:
- –Locale = and_JP
- Click on "Apply", then on "OK"
After following the above steps, the newly created shortcut will launch League of Legends in Japanese language. Almost everything including text, voices, as well as in-game chat and audio will be changed. However, players will still be on their respective region's servers with the same ping, to play without interruption. Users can also revert to their original launcher to switch back to English.
A frequently asked question and a popular fan feature is the ability to change only the audio or text of the League of Legends client. Unfortunately, only changing the client's language works - for now.
