Where do you find Old World materials?
Old World materials can be found as your adventure progresses. They can be found in chests, dropped by enemies, donated by NPCs, dropped by bosses, and sold by certain merchants. If you are looking for a specific area to find them, you will be disappointed. Some places like the ruined downtown area are better than others at grinding. But, for the most part, Old World materials are random drops scattered around the map.
