Weeks before the game's release, Activision revealed the official minimum and recommended specs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The final specs are mostly similar to what is required to run the beta of the game, with some minor tweaks.
There's not much surprising in the list, with most of the minimum and recommended specs for Modern Warfare both falling roughly in line with the requirements of most games today. However, there is one jaw-dropping detail: Modern Warfare will take up around 175 GB of hard drive space. That's even more than the already massive 150GB requested by Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, and more than three times the size of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Here's the full list of specs to go through as you decide what you can wipe off your hard drive to save space:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare minimum specs
- OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i3-4340 ou AMD FX-6300
- But by the full GPU acceleration tech: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon HD 7950
- RAM: 8 Go
- Storage space: 175 Go
- DirectX 12.0
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Recommended Specs
- OS: Windows 10 64 bits
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k ou AMD Ryzen R5 1600X
- But by the full GPU acceleration tech: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon R9 390 / AMD Radeon RX 580
- RAM: 12 Go

Aside from how much Modern Warfare real estate hard drive will claim, the rest of its specs are honestly easier to meet than expected. While a high-end graphics card will make things a bit nicer, even the recommended cards are a few years old, some even hitting budget. A strange detail is the recommended RAM requirement. Most games that use a lot of graphics these days require 16 GB of RAM, but Modern Warfare only needs 12 GB. This is particularly odd, as RAM is most often sold as 8 or 16 keys. GB, which makes a 12 GB system more difficult to obtain than the 16 GB one.
Despite its quirks, it's good to see that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare doesn't need a supercomputer to run. You can even take the money you're going to save, by meeting its system requirements, and buy a new hard drive to install it on. And if you still don't have a computer powerful enough to run it, Call of Duty: Mobile, playable on PC.
