To do this, you need to do it from the mobile app, which you can download for iOS or Android smartphones. After downloading it and taking the tutorial, you are free to use the app.
On the first page of the Pokémon HOME app, you should see the icon of a friend with two shaking hands. Click on it and go to your friends list. You don't have anyone here at the moment, but you can fix it. Click the Add Friend button to go to a page where you should see your friend's code that you can send to the friends you want to add. You can send this code to friends or ask them to send theirs to you to add it at the bottom of the page. Choose to send it, enter the code, and you should become friends shortly thereafter.
Now that you are friends, you can chat with them. Navigate to the trade page in the Pokémon HOME mobile app by swiping to the left. You should be able to trade with friends downstairs. Navigate to the page, choose the friend you want to trade with, and you are both good to go. Alternatively, your friend can send a trading room and make it private by giving you the room ID or by sharing the room template with you. Only those with a premium Pokémon HOME membership can create a room swap, so the friend swap area is ideal if you both have free access to Pokémon HOME.
The more friends you add to your HOME Pokémon account, the more likely you are to collect Pokémon that you have sought to collect.
