Mega Pokémon are here to stay, and a brand new one that you can fight in Pokémon Go is Mega Pidgeot. This is Pidgey's final evolution. If you beat Pidgeot enough times to earn his Mega Energy, you can evolve your Pidgeot into his Mega Evolution. This is another great Pokémon to have on your roster, especially for those looking to expand their roster of Mega Pokémon.
Weaknesses of Mega Pidgeot
Mega Pidgeot is a Normal and Flying type Pokémon. It is weak for Rock, Electric and Ice type attacks. You mainly want to use a Rock-type Pokémon against it to endure its stronger Flying and Normal-type attacks.
Pokémon to counter Mega Pidgeot
The best Pokémon to use against Mega Pidgeot are Magnezone, Rhyperior, and Golem (Alola).
Magnezone is a Steel and Electric type Pokémon. It's a great choice to use against Mega Pidgeot as it's a steel type, making it extremely difficult to take a lot of damage. He won't resist all attacks during the raid, and it won't last forever. Still, it can withstand a lot of punishments before you need to use a new Pokémon. He has a max CP of 3, attack of 205, defense of 238, and stamina of 205. The best hits to know are the charge beam and wild charge.
The next Pokémon you want to use is Rhyperior, and it's a Ground and Rock type. Like Magnezone, Rhyperior is resistant to a lot of Mega Pidgeot's attacks, which means he can take a lot of damage. Being a Rock type, he can damage Pidgeot quite well and use several super effective attacks. He has a max CP of 3, offense of 733, defense of 241, and stamina of 190. Best hits include smack down and rock wrecker. Unfortunately, the rock troubleshooter is a legacy move, so you want to use the stone edge instead.
Another optimal Pokémon to use against Mega Pidgeot is the Alola version of Golem because it is a Rock and Electric type. Mixing these two types is beneficial. The traditional Rock-type Golem is good against Pidgeot, but being able to use various Electric-type attacks is extremely useful, giving you a range of moves to use in the raid. A Golem has a max CP of 2, Attack of 949, Defense of 211, and Stamina of 198. The best moves he can use during the raid are Stone Throw and Savage Charge.
These aren't the only Pokémon you can use. You can also use Raikou, Galarian Darmanitan, Zekrom, Zapdos, Rampardos, Electivire, Mewtwo, Jolteon, Gigalith, Tyranitar, and Mamoswine.
After defeating Pidgeot, you gain Mega Energy for that Pokémon based on how fast you beat it. You can also capture a Pidgeot at the end of the raid, and it can be a shiny version.
