Gears 5 Horde mode has appeared with new changes for the game. Players have the option to choose from nine of their favorite characters from the game, from a few of the other DLC choices that are guest stars, such as Sarah Connor from Terminator and Kait and Emile from Halo Reach. Classes matter
Each of the characters in Horde mode is assigned a specific class. For those who want to go straight there, only two characters have the option to upgrade fortifications: Del and Kat, from Halo Reach. These are the engineers in Horde mode. They start the game with a passive system that allows them to purchase fortifications from the manufacturer cheaply, and move defenses faster than other units. While all characters can place a defense with the manufacturer, only they can improve certain things.
How to upgrade
Upgrading things is a bit confusing. To do this, the player must approach the defense and pick it up. When they do, they should see the option to upgrade it to the next level. The upgrade will depend primarily on the power of the engineer character. Once all of the character's carried power is consumed, the power he then uses comes from the manufacturer.
When the Horde team regains enough power, they must determine when to upgrade the manufacturer. This allows the whole team to access higher level defenses. For example, when the engineer upgrades the manufacturer from their base level to level two, all defenses built by any team member are to level two. This is a great way to ensure that if the engineer is too busy, another member of the Horde team can take care of the defenses on the other side.
