Tecnosylva has developed a software for the prediction and modeling of forest fires.
According to the New York Times listing, the Spanish software company is among the best of the year 2020.
Every year, the American newspaper takes stock of the political, social and health situation, both locally and globally, and selects the companies that have contributed most in humanitarian, scientific and technological terms to improving the state of the world and the quality of life in general through your contribution.
Among those chosen, the Tecnosylva company, based in León and founded by the forestry engineer, Joaquín Ramírez, was one of the excellences.
Tecnosylva's modeling software allows administrations to predict forest fires by calculating the direction of the flames, the speed and the weather conditions that could affect their progress. These capabilities were crucial in fighting the massive fires in California last year.
"We burn California practically every hour to see where there can be spots that cause a lot of damage to people or property." This was stated by Joaquín Ramírez, director of Tecnosylva, the Spanish company that leads the technological fight against forest fires in the United States and which has been awarded by the New York Times with one of its prestigious annual awards, “The 2020 Good Tech Awards”.

The program, created by the Spanish startup, has been used in nine North American states, helping the department of fire protection and forestry culture develop a strategy to deal with these natural disasters, particularly the one that hit the southwest of the country.
Tecnosylva, in addition to its headquarters in Spain, has had an office in San Diego, California since April 2020, when it won a competition for the fire forecasting service it offered.
The Spanish company won against 131 other companies that entered the competition, including Google and Microsoft.
