Access the private groups di Telegram becomes much easier thanks to QR codes. The confirmation comes from the 7.5 beta version for Android released in the last few hours and which, inside, contains some interesting features that allow the direct competitor of WhatsApp to keep up with its rival.
The latest release, made available for devices equipped with the Android operating system through the official channel dedicated to registered users as a beta tester, anticipates by some time what will be the stable version that will be made downloadable as usual via the Google Play Store. Don't worry, though, for Apple users. In fact, all the new features related to the functioning of the groups have already been spotted in the recent version of the client for macOS, dedicated to users who use the app on desktop and portable devices in Cupertino.
Telegram, access to private groups via QR
The main functionality integrated on Telegram in the next release will undoubtedly be that relating to invitations in groups. If the tests confirm that it works correctly, the new stable version will allow you to access private groups via a QR code, to be framed with the camera of the smartphone or tablet.
The introduction brings not only a practical advantage for users (a scan instead of the link to be shared via message), but also for the group administrators themselves. The admin they will in fact manage invitations setting a duration of validity to the QR code, expressed in hours, days or weeks, in addition to the maximum number of accesses through the same image.
Telegram, the other news
The same beta release also gives the green light to the possibility, again for administrators, to transform a standard group in a broadcast group. Among the features of this mode there is the opportunity to host a unlimited number of participants, usually limited to a maximum of 200 users.
For those wishing to take advantage of this new feature, it is fair to point out that in broadcast groups only the admins can publish messages. Other limitation is the one in the transformation of the group type: once set as broadcast, it is not possible to convert the group back to a traditional one.
Added to this is the addition of a self-destruct timer messages in public groups, to be set to 24 hours or 7 days. The feature can be added by admins and, once the chosen time frame has elapsed, the published messages will be automatically deleted from the chat.
