What are golden items, weapons, armor, and gear
Golden Gear is the new gear modification added via the Minecraft Dungeons Nether DLC, titled Flame of the Nether. These extremely rare and powerful items have a few perks behind their golden coloring (at least on the menu screen). You can tell that you have a golden item by checking that golden coloring on the inventory screen, as well as the golden tag on the item itself in this menu.
So that's how to identify them, but what are these golden items that you are going to collect (more details below)? There are two main benefits of having a piece of golden gear. They come with an enchantment already applied. You can see it on the menu screen above. The Glaive above has the Slows Mobs enchantment by default.
On top of that, golden weapons, armor, and other items have another key difference. When you collect them, you no longer receive emeralds. Instead, you'll get the new gold currency used to buy from the Piglin merchant. You'll also want a lot of gold, as this is how you can buy new gold gear.
How to get gold material
Golden items are obtained as drops when playing the new stages of the old hunt. This is probably how you will meet your first golden equipment. However, once you get back to camp, your options will expand considerably. Merchant Piglin will now be in your camp, tucked under the main area, in the cave to the southwest. Head there to exchange gold for gold items on offer at the time. As with all merchants, their inventory will change after completing new missions, so check it often.
What to do with golden gear, items, weapons, and armor
And that comes to the last question of what to do with the golden gear, whether it's weapons, armor, or whatever. Of course, if it has solid enchantments, including the default one, and good stats, you should use it. But you will end up with extras. You can still offer them for new Ancient Hunts, but you'll probably just want to collect them and turn them into more gold to purchase other golden gear. The choice is really yours, depending on what you need at the moment, but the options are clear.
