Telegram, with 500 million users, is the second most used instant messaging app in the world. It is surpassed only by WhatsApp, owned by Meta, with its 2 billion users. Although in terms of the number of users WhatsApp surpasses Telegram, the truth is that the latter has recently incorporated a series of very advanced functions of which the first one is missing.
Telegram allows you to translate both the messages you write and those you receive from your interlocutor
Telegram has indeed introduced a feature that allows to translate the messages. Thanks to this tool you can instantly translate the messages written in another language by your interlocutor or, on the contrary, translate into his language what you wrote in your mother tongue.
Here we explain how to activate and use this translator, very useful if you have to speak to a person who does not speak your language. We used telegram on an iPhone, but the procedure is identical on Android devices.
- Activate the translator: Enter telegram and go to Settings (for Android click on the icon with the three horizontal stripes, top right, then access the "Settings" option). From this screen, and from all the sections it shows you, click on the one that says "Language". Once inside, you will see that at the top there is an option that says "Show Translate button". Turn on the switch so that the option is activated.
-Translate the messages you write: Open a chat on Telegram and write the message you want to send in your mother tongue. Then, click on the message and you will see that a tab opens with different options. One of them says "Translate", and by clicking on it you can select which language to translate the text into. Once the translation is correct, click "Replace with translation" and send the message.
-Translate received messages: Click on the message you want to translate. This will open an option menu, where you need to click on the “Translate” option. From there, Telegram will take you to a screen that will show you the meaning, in your language, of the translated message.
We have seen how simple it is to translate conversations received and sent via telegram on the fly, without using external applications or services such as google translate.
