To excited Demon's Souls fans, speculation has become a reality with the cult-classic game that started the entire Dark Souls franchise receiving a whole new look for the PlayStation 5. You will be able to play it on the PlayStation 5 with an all-new field of graphics, gameplay features and a lot of madness. While the trailer doesn't share the title's exact release date, many fans are curious as to whether the Demon's Souls game coming to PlayStation 5 will be a remake or a remaster.
The official YouTube channel for PlayStation lists the game as a remake. From what we can tell from the trailer, it sounds like a mix of the two words and is probably similar to how Final Fantasy 7 released to PlayStation 4. In the YouTube description of the video, PlayStation lists it as follows: “Completely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully improved, this remake invites you to experience the disturbing story and merciless combat of Demon's Souls in unmatched visual quality. "
The video directly references it as a remake. This likely means that the dev team succeeded from scratch using a much more improved game engine that would make it a seamless experience on the PlayStation 5. While it looks like the game is a remake, it will likely follow suit. much of the same layout structure and building blocks from the original game.
Demon's Souls remains a cult classic that many players like to refer to and come back to. Still, developers Bluepoint Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio will likely want to stay as close to the original game as possible. However, don't be surprised if things change slightly when the game officially releases. Demon's Souls originally released in 2009 and had a lot of limitations. Now developers can explore new graphics, enemy sizes, and much more that the original design team barely scratches the surface of when it first released.
