Finisher is one of the flashiest and most unique features in Apex Legends, with nothing like it in other Battle Royales. It's also something we almost never see in a game, because of the inherent risk of executing a finisher in the middle of a shootout. However, there are situations in which taking out a finisher can be the difference between winning and losing. Here's everything you need to know about finishers in Apex Legends.
When to use a finisher
There are two good reasons to try a finisher in Apex Legends. The first is if you run out of stacks and stacks, as running a player completely restores your shield. The second is to quickly end a player who is giving you a hard time with their Knockdown Shield. A purple or gold knocked down shield can block up to 750 damage, and some players are shockingly good at using their shields to delay the inevitable.
In an optimal situation, removing a finisher allows you to kill a player without spending ammo and get free shields in the process. However, creating this optimal situation is another story.
How to use a paver
As you probably know from experience, trying to finish off players in the heat of the moment is suicide. The finisher animations lock you in place for over 6 seconds, which is plenty of time for someone to dome you and place you right next to your potential victim. Before launching the finisher, make sure that there is no one around you with a line of sight on you. Ideally, you only fight one team, and no one on your side has been downed yet. The perfect time to remove a finisher is when you are obscured by smoke from Bangalore or Nox gas from a friendly Caustic. Hiding under a Gibraltar shield is also helpful.
If you're playing as a Wraith, be sure to use the Existential Crisis finisher. It might be the best finisher in the game - it's super fast, and the animation makes you almost impossible to hit.
