In 2017, Setapp launched as an alternative subscription service for macOS apps and currently has around 190 apps (such as Timing) for Mac in various categories. The subscription price is $ 9,99 per month (one dollar less if you subscribe for one year) plus VAT.
Now, Setapp has announced that users can unlock and use iOS versions of some apps participating in the service.
To use the apps on iOS, Setapp subscribers must register their iPhones and iPads as additional devices in their plans. Once they have done so, they will be able to use the iOS versions of the Mac apps listed in the “Available on iOS” category.
To be installed on the iOS device, each app in that category has two associated scannable QR codes: one that installs the app on the iOS device from the App Store and another that unlocks the full version of the app via activation in Setapp.
There are currently seven iOS apps available.
Before being available in the service, apps must pass the Setapp review process, which examines aspects such as user experience, security, functionality, user data privacy, use of appropriate notifications, and reputation. On the other hand, apps available for iOS must pass Apple's review process to be displayed in the App Store.
