Il Sabrent is an external SSD, therefore a much faster device than the classics and now obsolete external hard disk.

So you're wondering if a External SSD such as the Sabrent Nano or a classic hard drive? Well, it is also superfluous for me to answer you.

The only drawback of this type of technology is the price, higher than for the slow drives just mentioned.

Il Sabrent Nano has a connection interface USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C.

The memory controller installed is a Phison E13T, rebranded by Sabrento while the memories are produced by Kioxia (Toshiba) and are BiCS 3D 96L TLC.

Le BiCS they are of different technology to the classic ones NAND, which for example we find on the Crucial X8, the Crucial X6 and many other devices on the market.

These should take advantage of one 3D technology, rather than 2D as with NAND, to offer advantages in terms of density on the die, spaciousness between memory cells e energy consumption.

Le BiCS are designed by KIOXIA and have been defined as the NAND memories of the future.

Sabrento declares that this drive can reach speed up to 1000MB/s.

We then understood how the Sabrent Nano is equipped with some of the most interesting memories on the market.

The package is further enriched by the super small size (which you can see yourself from the photos in the following sections) and the embarrassing and irrelevant weight of 78 grams.

They are supplied in a pack cavo USB Type C to Type C ed un cavo USB Type C to Type A. This allows you to use the drive with any PC equipped with the technology USB 3.2 Gen 2, if you want to take advantage of all the speed made available by the Sabrento.

As for technical specifications it would seem that the Sabrent Nano has the cards on the table to be elected as one of the best external SSDs on the market.

Its market price fluctuates around i 179 euro approximately for the 1 TB version.

As visible from the image above the Sabrent Nano it really has dimensions that can be the envy of many devices in its category and beyond.

Il weight is almost irrelevant and the shape of the product is super compact.

Sabrent Nano 1 TB USB C • Test & Benchmark

Let us now turn to what is perhaps the most important aspect of each External SSD or storage device you want: performance!

Il Sabrent Nano fortunately it respects the standards indicated by the manufacturer brand and reaches the expected speeds.

Sabrent Nano 1 TB USB C • USB3.2 portable external SSD (Test + review)

We have tested the drive with three different programs: CrystalDiskMark, ATTO Disk Benchmark e Anvil’s Storage Utilities.

These three programs together give us an optimal view of the performance of theSabrent external SSD.

We then compared the device with another external SSD that we have personally tested and other Internal SSDs that can give an idea of the difference in speed between an external drive and an Nvme.

Sabrent Nano 1 TB USB C • CrystalDiskMark

The first test was conducted on the timeless classic of storage systems for the benchmark: CrystalDisk.

In this we were able to demonstrate how with rather standard settings: i.e. weight transfers of 1Gbin sequential reading and writing with queue equal to 8 and 1MB files we got the rated speed.

Speed was great even when it is decreased the tail to 1.

If we wanted to then compare the drive with the Crucial X6 we would clearly see how this clearly outperforms it.

However, it must also be said that the Crucial X6 sometimes costs even up to 50 euro less and it's smaller and lighter (comparing 1TB versions).

Just to give an idea of the difference in speed with the classics M2 Nvme internal SSDs then we have present in the graph several drives of this type.

The speech is valid for both writing and reading speeds.

Sabrent Nano 1 TB USB C • ATTO Disk Benchmark

Passing on ACT Disk Benchmark we can verify if indeed ours drive has an anomalous behavior with files of certain sizes.

Fortunately the Sabrent Nano is extremely consistent in its speeds, both in reading and writing.

It may seem trivial but unfortunately it is not always so.

We have thus verified that the Nano has a uniform trend with files of different sizes.

Sabrent Nano 1 TB USB C • Anvil’s storage Utilities

Anvil’s Storage Utilities it's a program that doesn't just perform speed test, but it is a benchmark in all respects.

We can through this software calculate one score based on the results extracted from the performance of our drive.

These are the result of speeds achieved in MB / s, number of IOPS and various latencies.

This can again come in handy for comparing multiple drives together.

Not having tested further External SSDs we personally preferred not to include them in our comparison charts.

Sabrent Nano 1 TB USB C • Conclusions

Il Sabrent Nano is aesthetically interesting, it comes with a protective case for impact that maintains a certain palatability in the appearance of the drive.

The two supplied cables are fast and therefore clearly support the interface USB 3.2 Gen 2.

Il drive is available for about 179 euros at present (in the 1 TB version, the most common), a price certainly not indifferent.

It is definitely a external SSD very fast, small, light and aesthetically valid.

However, it is also true that the Crucial X6 and the Crucial X8 represent interesting alternatives.

The Crucial X8 is in fact faster, albeit slightly larger and costs less than the Sabrent Nano.

The Crucial X6 is smaller, lighter, much cheaper but less performing.

even the Sandisk Extreme V2 it is an excellent choice with the same performance, as it is a little cheaper but less compact.

Our final judgment on this device is that it suffers a little from the price at which it was placed on the market.

Il Sabrent Nano it is in itself a great product, but the competition has the quality / price ratio in its favor.
