Nemesis is a tough nut to crack, and if you're struggling to put this big guy down, I've got a few tips that make fighting Nemesis a lot easier. He is a tough enemy who keeps you constantly on your toes. Its tentacle whip can grab you from afar, and it can jump in front of you to block your retreat. It can also infect nearby zombies, which gives them a very weird mutant upgrade. You might think his head is his weak point, but you'd be wrong. Here's how to defeat Nemesis, and how to reap some nice rewards in the process.

How to beat Nemesis
Before we talk about the fabulous prizes you can earn by defeating Nemesis (temporarily), let's quickly go over the basics of defeating this extremely tough foe. I highly recommend save your grenades for meetings with Nemesis. Don't waste them on every encounter, but you can use them to knock him down in those rare cases where Nemesis drops a reward.
Even if you take down Nemesis, he will recover fairly quickly - he will only be stunned for a short time, giving you plenty of time to escape, but not enough time to rummage around and search for items you might have missed. There are only a few times that it's worth fighting it, so save your grenades for the encounters listed below.
- There are two ways to bring down Nemesis: shoot heart container on his chest, or using grenades. Shooting the heart container is easy if you pull it towards a generator - the generators charge up, so you can use them multiple times. Shock, then drop a few balls.
A single grenade at the right time can bring down Nemesis. You can either stun him with a generator shock or run into a building and wait for him to sneak inside. He slows down as he goes through a small door, which makes it much, much easier to land successfully with a grenade hit.
When you want to fight Nemesis
At certain intervals, Nemesis will drop a Umbrella holder when he's shot. Take the large case and open it by examining it in the menu. You will discover useful upgrades or practical items. It's still worth the (relatively) low cost of killing it.
- Nemesis - First appearance
- Shoot him down when he pursues you unarmed. He drops the (Extended magazine (handgun)) Upgrade.
- Nemesis - rocket launcher
- Later, during your escape from the city center, Nemesis will acquire a rocket launcher. Take it down to win (x6 flame rings) for the (MGL Grenade Launcher).
You can run away from these encounters or stand up and fight. You won't receive multiple rewards for killing him, so you just need to stun him once in these sequences to earn a prize.
