▷Pokémon Sword & Shield: Crown Tundra DLC - How to catch Calyrex

Calyrex is the royal Pokémon that rides a horse. The steed can be an Ice or Ghost type, depending on how you complete the quest to capture Calyrex. Calyrex also has two abilities - due to the fact that Calyrex is actually two Pokémon brought together by the Rein of Unity. It's a very difficult Pokémon that spawns at level 80, so you'll want to prepare for its fight.

How to catch a legendary Calyrex Pokémon

Find the king: Once in Freezington, go to your "home port" and speak to Peony to begin the three legendary expeditions.

Inside the base, grab the wooden crown from the table and use it on the statue on the ground outside. Calyrex will appear and challenge you to a duel. Defeat him, then talk to all the villagers in town to start the next step.

Obtain the king's horse: Go to the mayor's house on the hill, but he's out - go to the giant's bed to talk to him. The giant's bed is located in the southeast of the city. Walk through Frostpoint Field and stay on the left side of the Giant's Bed - talk to the Mayor, then talk to him again in his Freezington house.

There are two Steeds you can summon, depending on the type of carrot you are growing.

There are two types of carrots:
- Ice carrots: Ice Type - Plant carrot seeds in a snow covered field.
- Shaderoot carrots: Ghost Type - Place carrot seeds in a graveyard field.

Read the Crown Tundra Vegetable Book, then go and talk to Calyrex again. Tell him the courier can't resist " Carrots- Calyrex will help you grow a carrot.

How to get a carrot:
- Talk to the old man from Freezingtown who is standing by the fields. He will exchange 1 bag of carrot seeds for x8 Dynite Ore.
  - Talk to Calyrex. You can plant the carrot seed in two fields. Depending on which one you pick, you will end up with a different carrot and attract a different steed.
- Iceroot Carrot: Summons an Ice-type white steed. Find Snowslide Slope Field, beyond and north of the Giant's Bed.
- Carrot Shaderoot: Summons a Ghost-type Black Charger. Find the field in Giant's Bed. Look for the area marked Old Cemetary.

After planting the seed, Calyrex will arrive and cultivate it using his power. Pull the carrot, then travel back to Freezington to face the wild steed. Defeat him to collect the tuft of black / white mane hair. Thanks to this, you will be able to recreate the Reins of Unity.

Getting the reins of unity:
- Collect the tuft of black / white mane hair from the ground after defeating the legendary courier.
- Talk to Calyrex in Freezington to get the Radiant petal.
- Go to the mayor's house in Freezington and talk to him.
- Once the scene is played, you will earn a unity reins set.

We're almost done. Go out and talk to Calyrex to get your final goal. Trip to Crown shrine and meet the courier. Cross the Giant's Bed and head north through Snowslide Slope. Enter the tunnel to the top and reach the path to the top - you will eventually reach the Crown Shrine at the top!

Enter the Crown Shrine and place the Carrot Key Element in the holder on the left. This will summon the courier of your choice and ultimately lead to the reunion of Calyrex.

Once Calyrex is reunited, he will be at full strength. Beat the full version and catch it to get this legendary Pokémon in your team.

Calyrex comes in two different forms.
- Black Horse: Use Shaderoot do Calyrex Psychic / Ghost type.
- Light courier: Use Iceroot do Calyrex Psychic / Ice type.

This fight can take up to 20+ Ultra Balls to capture, even when Calyrex is reduced to 1 HP. You can use the Master Ball here - but I recommend saving it for later.
