Galarian Pokémon made their way to Pokémon Go for the first time. They are available for a limited time during the Throwback Challenge 2020 event, during Champion Finder tasks from June 3-8. While they arrive in the game, they will be available in limited quantities.
The best method is to participate in the Throwback Challenge Champion Find Tasks, which are only available to Trainers who have completed each Throwback Challenge in Pokémon Go. In May 2020, developer Niantic hosted several return challenges, highlighting evidence the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh regions of the Pokémon series.
If you complete each available task during these Challenge Weeks, you will unlock access to Champion Research Tasks. For those who haven't attended these events, you have the option of purchasing a ticket for these events by purchasing it through the Pokémon Go app store for $ 7,99.
Research tasks available for Champion Research tasks offer rewards for Galarian Pokémon encounters. You only have a small handful, but here's the full list:
- Galarian Stunfisk
- Galarian Meowth
- Galarian Zigzagoon
- Galarian Darumaka
Beyond the returning challenge champion's search tasks, Trainers can encounter the Galarian Stunfisk in the wild. Alternatively, you can hatch a Galarian Meow, Zigzagoon, and Darumaka from 7-kilometer eggs, but you also have a chance for these Pokémon to be their natural forms. These will only be available through the 7 kilometer eggs you acquired during the event from June 3-8.
It has been confirmed that you can get an Obstagoon, for those curious to know if the third Zigzagoon evolution is going to be available. We don't know if there will be additional hours and methods for Trainers to capture these Pokémon beyond the Champions Finder Event or tasks. Those with access to Champion Research tasks can complete it anytime after the scheduled event time.
