Office vs Google Apps: Microsoft clearly defeated on mobile

Google and Microsoft, once again theirs. Earlier this week SurveyMonkey released the results of some studies and analyzes conducted by its intelligence division to provide a very explanatory picture of how many people are using Microsoft Office applications on mobile devices compared to Google's. Probably some of you will imagine that it is normal for Google applications to have higher numbers than Microsoft's but what the results show is quite disconcerting.

First of all, let's start from the results, summarized in the following image:

Office vs Google Apps: Microsoft clearly defeated on mobile

SurveyMonkey research data refers to the month of March 2016: Microsoft only reaches one eighth of the mobile phone market for productivity apps than Google's. And the numbers are, sadly, even worse for Microsoft when each app is compared separately. In particular, notice how Microsoft suffers a lot with Google's Gmail and Inbox applications that clearly dominate the use of Microsoft's Outlook; moreover, even Google Drive has literally outclassed Microsoft's cloud service OneDrive.

Okay, now some of you will be able to say that some of these results are attributable to the fact that many manufacturers such as Samsung and LG pre-install Google applications on the system, and SurveyMonkey noted:

"Ironically, Microsoft Office is hampered by the same structural disadvantages of mobile distribution (owned by Google of Android) that its competitors suffer at the desktop level."

The European Union, as you may know because we already told you about it some time ago, agrees with the general feeling of “hatred” towards the dominant position of Google and its pre-installed applications on Android.

In short, despite the historical dominance of Microsoft, Google beats Microsoft in every category on mobile and even even Google Sheets boasts far more Microsoft Excel users, an area where purists have traditionally continued to prefer Microsoft. After seeing these results, what do you think of SurveyMonkey's assessment?
