If they're chasing the QB, what you want to do is press L1 to sideways the ball and hopefully find some free space to run with the RB. With the laterals you have to be extremely careful because they can be very dangerous. If you do a full-back with the ball with another play between you and the ball carrier, it will rebound and cause a fumble.
