Apple today announced a major update to Logic Pro X with a professional version of Live Loops, a completely redesigned sampling process and new foundation building tools.
With its collection of powerful creative features, Logic Pro X 10.5 will revolutionize the work of musicians, even those who produce electronic music.
Live loop
With Live loops on the Mac, Logic users can unleash their creativity while composing. Loops, samples and recordings can be organized in a new musical grid where players can improvise and add different arrangement proposals to the timeline.
From there, the tracks can be carefully polished with Logic's professional production capabilities.
Remix FX Enhance Live Loops with an incredible collection of electronic effects, such as Bitcrusher, Filter, Gater and Repeater, which can be played in real time on individual tracks or over the entire mix.
Users can get even more of both with the free Logic Remote app, which allows you to connect iPhone or iPad to Mac and use Multi-Touch gestures to control Live Loops and Remix FX.
Sampler and rapid sampler
Sampler is the next generation of the popular industry standard EXS24 plug-in, featuring a modern design and more controls to shape the sound without losing backward compatibility.
Manufacturers can use Sampler to create and modify sophisticated multisampled instruments and use drag and drop to automate more complex manufacturing tasks.
With Quick Sampler it is very easy to convert any sound into a ready-to-play instrument.
Musicians can select a sound they have stored in Logic, Finder or Voice Memos or even record directly into the Quick Sampler.
With just a few clicks, the imported sample can be cut, looped, or played on a keyboard controller, all with access to controls for shaping the sound.
Creation of foundations
Logic Pro X 10.5 offers a collection of new creative tools that work side by side so that everything runs smoothly while creating original backing tracks, one of the keys to electronic and hip hop music production.
Step Sequencer is a new Logic editor designed to let you enjoy programming drum backing tracks, bass lines and melody parts with an interface inspired by classic drum work processes.
Step Sequencer combines a pattern-based music creation style with advanced editing options to create original parts and offers great control over note velocity, repeat, gate, jump, play direction and randomness.
Drum Synth includes a large collection of software-generated bass drum, snare, tom, and percussion sounds.
Each sound comes with specific controls that allow players to thoroughly polish their favorite parts.
Drum Synth sounds can be used with any Drum Machine Designer pad and combined with samples to experiment with creative ways to design the sound.
Drum Machine Designer, the electronic drum kit creation tool in Logic, now integrates with new basic programming and sampling workflows.
New Quick Sampler and Drum Synth plug-ins can be applied to each drum pad to easily edit and shape individual sounds within a drum kit. Once created, kits can be played in real time or programmed with the Step Sequencer.
Logical remote control
LogicRemote is a free app that allows users to connect an iPhone or iPad with a Mac to control and use Logic's features and tools with Multi-Touch gestures.
The new version of Logic Remote lets you trigger sounds in Live Loops, explore and add loops, and apply Remix FX to a session.
Improved performance for the Mac
Logic Pro X is optimized to take full advantage of Mac technology and the power of macOS. That's why it delivers incredible performance when working with the most demanding projects with thousands of tracks and hundreds of plug-ins in real time.
