Final Fantasy VIII - Square Enix Remastered is finally finalized and channeled for full-blown gamers to have fun, that is - it's out! The original was released on February 11, 1999, and now, 20 years and seven months later, the game has been remastered as fans demanded it. The old-school RPG was developed by Square, which is now a half of Square Enix after its merger with Enix, you'd expect, and the unified company now officially has a reputation for staying tuned and valuing people. community feedback - they won it!
Final Fantasy VIII is one of the most beloved installations in the FF franchise and it was obvious that if they had to do it, they had to do it right. Clearly, Square Enix brought this baby to PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One at the same time. It's a fitting way to celebrate the title's 20th anniversary, but that's not all.
They've done everything the word Remastered allows, including keeping the original models, but now fully rendering all of the visuals that infused new life into this still old and cherished game. Player-favorite characters from the franchise, SeeD rookie Squall Leonhart, and resistance fighter Rinoa Heartily, embark on an epic journey to stop Galbadia, a rogue military country, from taking over the world. This story, that is, the campaign, is probably one of the most read content in video game history, which is a bold statement but not outrageous.
However, this REMASTER version includes several improvements to improve the old flavor:
- Battle Assist: always have maximum HP and ATB, with Limit Breaks at all times
- No Encounters: An option that allows players to experience an unbroken storyline with enemy encounters disabled - battles are still fought of course
- 3x Speed Boost: As people have been playing this game over and over again for 20 years, it really didn't make sense not to include an option that lets you speed up the game 3 times to give it a bit more adrenaline rush and go on tedious content quickly
Version PC sur STEAM New Exclusive Features: The STEAM version will have additional features including:
- All items: own all in-game items (not including new ones added for the remaster)
- All Abilities: GF Level Max, Max Magic, Max Gil, All Cards, and All Limit Cuts (Max Triple Triad cards and all except rare cards)
The downside (maybe) is that they want something in return for their efforts. Final Fantasy VIII - REMASTERED will set you back $ 19,99 across all available platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4, and NS). Not very expensive, considering that the whole game has been inflated and adapted to four different platforms. And, more importantly, it offers new content, like new items and new maps. It also retained its T ESRB (teenage) rating and did the most important thing a gem old school remaster could do: bring the community back to life.
