Your goal as Resident Evil Resistance survivors is to work together against the brain, which is constantly spawning new zombies and threats to fight you. Survivors consist of four different characters, each with a unique set of skills to bring to the table to help each other. There are four different options to choose from while achieving various goals.
The cast of survivors
The four current survivor options are:
- Samuel Jordan, who is a damage-dealing brawler with the ability to rush with a punch, knocking back enemies nearby and unleashing a series of boxing skills to damage enemies.
- Janvier Van Sant, a ranged hacker who has several tech skills, such as an overload ability that disables Mastermind's cameras and an EMP that increases Mastermind card values to summon threats.
- Valerie Harmon, a ranged support character who can use her Survival Instinct ability to find nearby enemies, and has a modified first aid roll to heal all nearby allies.
- Tyrone Henry is a melee tank character who has a powerful kick to distance himself from enemies and rally to boost the morale of any survivors nearby, as well as reduce the damage they take for a short time.
For the current Resident Evil Resistance beta, there are only four survivors available. There will be six when the game officially launches, along with new abilities and perks for each. The more you play as a particular Survivor, the more skills and talents you unlock.
Fight the brain and the stopwatch
Your goal as a team of survivors is to reach each level checkpoint to move on to the next area before the brain takes you away. The initial timer starts at 5:00 a.m., but gradually decreases as the game progresses naturally. The timer is further reduced whenever a Survivor takes damage or is brain killed. You and your team can increase time by killing zombies, completing objectives, and progressing through checkpoints. If all of your teammates progress to the next checkpoint, the timer increases dramatically, like 1:30. The weather doesn't go up that much if everyone on your team doesn't make it to the checkpoint.
The brain will constantly send out new threats, such as weaker or stronger zombies whenever possible. While your team's goal is to progress through the game and get to the end, you want to stay together as much as possible, preventing one of Mastermind's most trusted traps or zombies from taking down a character who got lost.
Achieving goals is your first and foremost goal, while ensuring that your team members don't die. These objectives consist of finding key cards to place in the terminals, assembling the outfit of a raccoon statue and a handful of others that the brain has put together to waste your time, allowing them to summon more. of zombies. Sometimes you have to protect a single teammate who has a security card as they move, locate terminals, and your job is just to make sure the brain doesn't delete them, wasting more of your time.
Use skills and the security room
Each Survivor has a set of useful skills and weapons that they can use during the game. You want to stay close to each other to optimize these skills, like keeping Valerie alive and close to you, so when she uses her medical spray, everyone on the team gets to come back to full health. You want Tyrone and Samuel to be at the forefront of the fight to deal with the melee zombies, while Valerie and January stay behind, picking up the zombies with their weapons and shooting any incoming threats. You want to communicate with your team all the time, call out any zombies or traps you see, or ask for help when the brain sends the tyrant after you.
Along the way, you and your teammates have the opportunity to earn Umbrella Credits. These credits go into a shared pool that everyone receives, allowing each character to purchase new items, like green and blue plants, more powerful weapons, and new things to help you and your team progress. until the end. You can find safe rooms scattered throughout the game where you can take a quick break, buy new gear, and level up further. But you don't want to waste too much time here because you're on the clock.
When there are four players against a single character summoning zombies, things seem a lot more relaxed, but you can quickly get overwhelmed. You want to make sure that you don't spend too much time walking around alone, and you can communicate with your teammates if you are low on ammo or health. The more you talk to your teammates, the more chances you have to defeat the brain and make it to the end.
