How will capital ships work in Star Wars: Squadrons?

In Star Wars: Squadrons, there are two game modes that you and your friends can participate in in multiplayer mode, a five-on-five ship-to-ship battle and a fleet battle where teams face off against capital ships. The Battle of the Fleet will be a game mode in which players have to go through several phases, and the last one consists of a team that eliminates the opposing capital ship. When we first discovered this mode, we thought the capital ships would have defenses and prove tough combat to players, but there will be more things players can witness during battle.

The Capital Ship won't be a stationary objective that a player is working towards, or something waiting in the background until it's time for them to engage the others. Instead, fleet battles will supposedly have a morale system. The more damage you damage the enemy team and attack their objectives, it lowers their overall morale until you can fight their mid-size frigates and then their capital ships.

When your team achieves sufficient morale, these frigates become available for you to attack. These are fairly generous ships, so you can expect to spend a lot of time trying to bring them down. You still have to fight against enemy players who try to defend them. If you and your team die enough, the morale gauge switches in favor of your enemies, forcing your team to fall back to defend yours. It will be a dance to see which team can take out enough frigates until the capital ships are vulnerable. When you lose, a friendly frigate may rush in to help you get back. If destroyed, he gives points to the enemy team, but he's strong enough to take them down if they don't attack together.

Capital ships have several defenses that you must take out. There will be shields, power generators, and turrets ready to defend themselves. You can choose to attack it yourself, but it leaves you open with every turret of this great ship to focus fire on you. These battles are all based on teamwork. It also means choosing a diverse cast of star hunters, with some players needing to focus on bombing and others defending bombers to fight enemy and AI fighters. Support starfighters will need to supply everyone and keep them alive.

The strength of these capital ships forces players to work together or lose the match by being apart without coordinating with your teammates. Each time you die it adds another point bonus to the enemy team. When you watch an ally's back and protect them, the more likely you are to end up at the finish line and achieve victory.
