Although it is a relatively new platform (until recently it was known as Hangouts Meet), Google Meet in a few weeks it managed to establish itself enough to conquer three million new users a day as announced by the CEO of Mountain View. Now the service is about to become free for everyone, even those who don't have G Suite access: it will happen by May.
The limits of Google Meet
It will be enough to have a Google account, the same employed for Gmail so to speak, or register one at no cost. This will be enough to start one videoconferencing with the most diverse purposes: keeping in touch with friends and family, organizing a meeting with colleagues or reviewing a lesson in a group before a test in e-learning mode.
In any case, bigG puts pen to paper that the free use of the service will be characterized by some limits, but not before September 30th. Until then, the premium features of Meet will be free of charge, for everyone.
From October 1, meetings for non-G Suite users will have maximum duration of 60 minutes, it will not be possible to save the Recordings meetings and these cannot be broadcast live. Another premium feature is the one that allows you to engage 250 people at the same time to a meeting (displaying no more than 16 simultaneously).
Il rollout of the free version will take place as already mentioned within a few weeks, gradually. Those who wish to be notified of availability can fill in a form specially put online by Google indicating name, surname and email address.
