With the end of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War alpha test, you'd think nothing new will happen in Call of Duty's current game, Modern Warfare, until the game's release. Developer Infinity Ward has other plans. An update to Call of Duty Modern Warfare will go live to bring Season Six to all players starting September 29.
Season six will feature a new battle pass with new characters and other rewards, as well as new changes to the Warzone, Verdansk map. The two new characters are familiar faces if you've played through Modern Warfare's campaign missions, but they haven't yet become playable nearly a year after their release. Season six brings Farah and Nikolai as playable characters.
New character: Farah
Farah, the commander of the Urzikstani Liberation Force, played a key role in the campaign and can be unlocked as a playable character by purchasing the Season Six Battle Pass. It will be playable at level 0 with several additional skins and rewards for the character becoming available once the battle pass is complete.
New character: Nikolai
Nikolai is a beloved classic character who made a first appearance in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and returned for the 2019 install. Nikolai is the leader of Chimera, a PMC within the Allegiance and a friend. longtime captain Price. Nikolai is the reward for reaching level 100 in the Season Six Battle Pass, and players can unlock additional skins and rewards by completing Operator Missions.
Warzone Map Changes
There have been a few changes in Verdansk since Warzone started, like a new tunnel, train, ziplines and of course the stadium opening in the center of the map. Each refreshes the map by creating new areas for players to fight and loot in when they first enter the game.
Season six will bring map changes through underground tunnels. Details have not been released on how they fit into Verdansk, but it is clear from the trailer that tunnels similar to those at the airport are being added. Zakhaev is said to have an underground operations network in Verdansk which has just been discovered.
As for the location of the tunnels on the map, it appears to be a metro track under much of the map, with stations in various places. The map revealed in the trailer shows the track that passes under the city center, wraps around the stadium, moves through the quarry, and returns in a circle through the airport hangars, the promenade and back to the downtown. It could be a quick way for players to get around this area of the map via the subway or a long hideout for players needing to hide. We'll have to wait until September 29 to find out for sure.
