In Ancestors: A Man's Odyssey, the game begins with a heavy blow, killing a clan member and leaving an orphan stranded in the jungle. From there, you have two options: take the terrible orphan home to his clan or help him hide in the undergrowth until help arrives.
This point of the game could be called the tutorial, because it gives brief advice on the controls. That said, it's a hotspot for the new player, with additional fear effects on the screen and confusing controls. It is terrifying to keep this new primate alive.
The first option is to guide the baby home. IGN has a brief guide to both of these options, thankfully, as this one doesn't seem like the most obvious choice in the game. The tutorial even pushes the player into hiding. Using the baby's intelligence, find the diamond that represents the house and walk towards it. Players will have to fight the fear of the baby along the way, but when they return home they will be greeted by happy adults and elders.
The second, more obvious option is to hide. Players who choose to hide will need to locate a square icon, identify it and, if it indicates that it is a hideout, run towards it. Once there, they can press a button to hide.
Find the baby hominid
For players who have chosen to hide, they will now be tasked with finding the orphan hominid. By playing an adult in the clan, they can fight their way through the forest using their senses and wits to follow the sound of the scared orphaned boy's cries. According to Game Revolution, When using your senses and hearing, your baby's sounds should appear as a yellow circle. If, upon detection, you don't see the yellow circle on your screen, move further into the forest.
The actual position of the baby depends on where the player has chosen to hide. They could be near the clan colony or very far away. The key to this short tutorial is to use the skills of sense and concentration.
For some, the baby's position is shown on the screen, which directs them directly to them and greatly simplifies the process.
Once the player finds their baby, they will need to appease them and bring them back to the clan. At this stage, players are free to do whatever they want to evolve and progress.
