Yakuza: Like a Dragon - How to Heal

Eventually, the party will need to recover some of these crucial health points, whether they're currently engaged in combat or dragging themselves around Yokohama after a brawl. Here's how to get your team back in shape.

How to heal outside of combat

When healing outside of combat, the process is more relaxed and offers more solutions to injured party members. Inventory items, such as Salmon Onigiri, can be selected from the Items section of the pause menu. Select the desired HP boost item and the game will ask which character is the desired recipient. Pick the weakened individual to give him that much needed boost.

There may come a time when you have spent the team's health recovery items. Restaurants, marked with a yellow fork and knife icon, can be visited for a quick meal. Sit down with the crew to enjoy a spicy fried octopus and wash it down with a highball to say goodbye to annoying injuries.

Of course, you can always replenish your stash to better prepare for injuries while on the go. Look for the orange shopping cart icons on the map for stores selling essentials. A corner store may allow you to fill your pockets with chips granting HP, while a drugstore is likely to be stocked with potent ZZ.

The last option comes in the form of scantily placed recovery stations throughout missions that extract characters from the normal map. They can be found near the save stations and are identified by the sparkling heart icon from a short drink dispenser.

How to heal during combat

When healing in combat, the options are a bit more limited. You can't get away from the battle and rush to the nearest restaurant for a revitalizing plate of noodles. Prior preparation is essential for effective mid-fight healing.

The first option is to use an element. In combat, select Etc. then Objects. This will bring up a menu with all of the available items currently stored in your inventory. Highlight and select the team member who needs help. Keep in mind that spending an item in combat counts as that turn's action, which means it's important to be strategic in using them.

The remaining way is to have the right party composition. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is more of an RPG than previous versions, sporting jobs that push characters into specific roles. Having a character with a healing ability is probably a must for the three-man party. Nanba, for example, can select skills and use the healing powder with the same method of application as administering items. However, only MP (mental points) are depleted during use. Keep an eye out for jobs that can heal to make sure the holiday has an alternative to eating through the items.

You now have a better chance of staying alive through the difficult encounters that await Ichiban.
