Mount and blade is a favorite for many players. The large open world, thrilling action, and frantic combat draw players from all over the world, and Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is one of the most anticipated games of the year. With the launch of Early Access on PC on March 30, there is renewed interest in whether the game will arrive on consoles.
The bad news for console gamers is that the development team is currently focused on the PC version for now, but will consider bringing the game to consoles in the future.
After a Steam user asked about the possibility of release, the developer replied, “We are currently developing for PC and will release the game initially only on this platform. Consoles are something we are looking at for the future. "
It took six years from the release of Mount and Blade for the game to eventually make its way to the console, so it seems unlikely that Bannerlord consoles will arrive anytime soon.
Taleworlds Entertainment has always been a very PC-focused game, and it's also important to note that the Bannerlord PC release is Early Access, not a finished product. The team will need to finish developing the game and then make sure they fully support the efforts of the modding community who will undoubtedly take the game to some weird and fun new places.
If anything, it seems very likely that Bannerlord will never release for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, and will instead be released in a few years from the next generation of console hardware if it gets a console version at all.
Of course, this is only speculation, and we'll keep you posted on future developer statements on the matter.
