Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is out now, and if you've pre-ordered the game, you've got a bit more to do than other players. Pre-orders for Trine 4 with early access to an additional level of downloadable content called Toby's Dream. While everyone who has purchased Trine 4 will eventually gain access to the level, at the moment it is only open to first-time users. Pre-orders for Trine: Ultimate Collection also get access to Toby's Dream, as well as digital versions of the first three Trine Games.
First off, you'll want to make sure you've used the DLC properly before you start playing so you can unlock the bonus level when the time comes. If you pre-ordered Trine 4 from a store and got a physical copy of it, you should have received the DLC download code with your game. If you pre-ordered online, it should have been sent by mail electronic. To unlock the DLC, you must redeem this code on the platform you are playing on, so as not to automatically include it when installing the game. Once this is settled, you can proceed to unlocking the Toby's Dream level. .
Unlock Toby's Dream
There is no trick to accessing Toby's Dream, but you won't be able to play it from the start of the game. To unlock the level, you will have to progress quite a bit in Trine 4 first. You don't have to worry about achieving special goals; play the game until you reach the prince's dream level in Act 2. Once you beat the prince's dream, go back to the level selection screen and you will see Toby's dream on the map. You will now be able to choose Toby's Dream like any other level.
In Toby's Dream, your party of adventurers sets out on a special quest with a dog named Toby, who originally appeared in Nine Scrolls, another game from Frozenbyte, the developers of Trine 4. The level is a colorful swirl through Toby's version of the Trine 4 world where you're tasked with helping him collect treats hidden within the castle grounds. It's fun, silly entertainment in what's already a really engaging game.
Trine 4 is out now on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Even if you missed the pre-order bonus, you will still be able to play Toby's Dream when it becomes available on all versions of the game at a later time.
