How to open treasure chests and what's inside
To clarify, the regular chests found in each stage of Spelunky 2 can simply be hit with your whip or a projectile to open them. This is not what this guide will explain to you. Instead, we're talking about what was once called Big Chests in Game One. They got a makeover for the sequel so I call them treasure chests because that's what they look like now. These are found in sub-sections of the main scene and feature blue coloring and gold trim as seen above. So, now that you know what we're talking about, let's see how to open them.
The answer is that these treasure chests require a gold key, which will be located elsewhere on the stage. You will have to explore the whole area, as the levels are random so we cannot help you further, until you see it. It can be hidden in a corner, sold in the shop, or donated by certain NPCs, so just explore the scene for anything you can find. Once you get the key, head back to the sub-area and use it to open the treasure chest. What's inside? The eye of Udjat. What is that? Good question, here's what the Udjat Eye does.
What does the Oudjat Eye do
The Eye of Udjat is a return item from Game XNUMX, so seasoned veterans should be familiar with this important item already. Once picked up, the Udjat Eye gives the player better vision throughout the stages ahead. Mainly, it allows you to see the jewels and the hidden objects in the stages. Once you get out of the cave you should see a lot more jewelry in the dirt so bomb if there is anything you want or need.
The Udjat Eye had a second lens in the first game, which many see as a spoil, so here's your warning. In the first game, and probably also in Spelunky 2, players had to keep staring at the Udjat Eye symbol on their screen as they explored the jungle stages. The eye will blink and click as you get closer to the black market entrance. Try to watch it as you explore the jungle in case that continues for the rest.
So here's how to open treasure chests and what's inside in Spelunky 2, as well as an explanation of what Udjat's Eye does.
