Sea of Thieves' next monthly update is almost here, and its official name is the Vault of the Ancients. The main feature of it is a new trip offered by the Gold Hoarders trading company and the addition of dogs. Here's everything you need to know to prepare for the September update.
What is the release date for the Vault of the Ancients update?
The new update will be released on September 9. You will need to update your Sea of Thieves client when they arrive to access the game and explore the new journey.
Voyage of the Vault of the Ancients
The Gold Hoarders needed a place to hide all of their gold following the events of the Gold Shores. Their solution was to hide it in the ancient vaults which are scattered throughout the many islands. They require players to collect the keys from these chests, but you instead choose to use the key to unlock the prizes inside. The real treasure is hidden behind the various doors and traps created by the Gold Hoarders to protect their precious cargo. It will be your job to unlock those chests, learn how to unlock the hidden rooms in a timely manner, and get out alive.
Accessibility features
Two new key accessibility features will be available in Sea of Thieves when Vault of the Elder launches. The first is the ability for players to always see their health and gun ammo on their UI. Players can also turn them off, as well as the island banners that appear when they enter a new location. The other changes in accessibility options come with the single stick mode. You can now change how this feature works with your camera, giving you more freedom while on the move.
Dogs!
Dogs will be coming to Sea of Thieves with this update. Although they only get a brief mention in the last video, they arrive at the Pirate Emporium where players can purchase them directly to add the loyal companion to their crew.

Mysterious Notes
There's a lot of new stuff available in Sea of Thieves, and not everyone knows what's been added or where to start. To facilitate this communication, Rare has added mysterious notes that players can display in their menu that provide subtle recommendations on what to do in adventure mode. They refer to new content and what they need to explore. It's a fun way for developers to contact players directly without interrupting the Sea of Thieves immersion, which is always fun.
