Eevee is easily one of the most popular Pokémon, and right now seven of the eight possible evolutions are available in Pokémon Go. Trainers can get Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, and Leafeon. The Fairy-type Sylveon is not yet available in Pokémon Go, but will likely come in a future update. There are several ways to evolve an Eevee, such as traditional leveling and naming it.
How to Evolve Eevee Through Naming
Whenever you use 25 Eevee Candy to evolve an Eevee, it will randomly evolve into one of three possible evolutions: Flareon, Jolteonor Vaporeon. If you are looking to evolve Eevee in a specific evolution, you can control it by renaming Eevee before evolving it using candy.
You can dictate the evolution of an Eevee before giving it 25 Eevee candies. If you don't change it to one of these names, it will go through its standard evolution steps. You can only use the naming trick once, so if you have a lower Eevee CP you probably don't want to lose your one shot.
- To get the Fire-type Flareon Pokémon, name them Pyro
- To get the Electric-type Pokemon Jolteon, name them Sparky
- To get the Water-type Vaporeon Pokémon, name them Rainer
- To get the Psychic-type Pokémon Espeon, name them Sakura
- To get the Dark-type Pokémon Umbreon, name them Tamao
- To get the Ice-type Glaceon Pokémon, name them Rea
- To get the Grass-type Leafeon Pokémon, name them Linnea
To rename your Eevee, simply click on the Pokéball at the bottom of your screen, click on the Pokémon option, and locate the Eevee you want to rename in your list. Click on that Eevee, then click on the Pokémon's name and you should be able to give them a nickname. After the name change, give your Eevee the 25 candies to evolve, and it should become the one on the list.
How to get Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon
After using the unusual naming convention technique to acquire your specific Eevee evolution, you must complete the other evolutions through standard gameplay. Your Eevee has an equal chance of becoming Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporen each time you give them 25 candies. You don't have much to say about it, so if you are looking for a specific one, you may need to acquire multiple Eevee to find the one you are looking for.
How to get Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon and Leafeon
In the main series Pokémon games, these Pokémon require you to go through a specific sequence of steps in order for your Eevee to become one of them. Espeon and Umbreon have similar measurements, as do Glaceon and Leafeon.
Espeon et Umbreon
In order for your Pokémon to become Espeon or Umbreon, the first thing you need to do is set your Eevee to your friend. You can do this by clicking on your avatar, going to the trainer menu, clicking on your current buddy, and then scrolling down the buddy menu to buddy swap options. Choose the Eevee you want to evolve and make it your buddy. You must then travel 10 kilometers with your Eevee.
When you're ready to evolve them, you need to keep Eevee as an active friend, and it's important to note the time that matters. If you want the Psychic, Espeon type, you have to evolve your Eevee during the day. If you want the dark type, Umbreon, you have to evolve them overnight. After waiting for the right time of day, you evolve Eevee like you would any other Pokémon.
Glaceon and Leafeon
In order for your Pokémon to become Glaceon or Leafeon, you need to obtain specific lure mods. For the Ice-type Glaceon, you must acquire the Glacial lure module. For the Grass type, Leafeon, you need to use the Mossy decoy mod. You buy these mods in the store for 200 PokéCoins, which you can acquire in several ways in Pokémon Go.
When you have the right lure you want to use, you need to visit a PokéStop and activate it. Once it's active, evolve your Eevee as you traditionally do, and it will become Glaceon or Leafeon, depending on which mod you've activated.
