Path of Exile, the critically acclaimed hack n 'slash action RPG, will soon be ported to smartphones. Grinding Gear Games made the announcement during ExileCon 2019, claiming that the next mobile version of the game is already in the experimental stage. They also unveiled the sequel, Path of Exile 2, as the developers gave a bit of a talk about how they're going to make the port work. This reveal comes quite late compared to Diablo Immortal, the mobile version of the cult favorite, which was announced a year ago, but given its extended development phase, it looks like PoE isn't too late.
According to the reveal video, it looks like the team at Grinding Gear Games had been in development for quite some time. The developers are committed to providing the best possible experience, immediately claiming that mechanics such as The pay-to-win mechanics, The cumbersome microtransactions and The annoying ads will not be part of their smartphone transition.
They also showed how they managed to develop new technologies, which really improved their tools for the game and the engine, and improved the systems for all platforms, while also making it perfectly suited for mobile gaming. As shown in the video, the game will bring the authentic Path of Exile gaming experience to portable devices while providing superior quality to most mobile phone games of this genre. The control system looks familiar, but the developers say they won't compromise on any other aspect of the game just for the sake of the port.
The team admits that they will need to adapt the game to the mobile playstyle in a way that meets the expectations of shorter gaming sessions expected by mobile phone gamers. This meant that the map size and execution times had to be adjusted, while the game still had to retain all of the original features, such as Path of Exile builds, items, abilities, etc.
Path of Exile Mobile, as it is called, is therefore entirely developed in-house, without involving any other studio. It's good for all players who would like to try this game for two reasons. First of all, the original development team is better at keeping the game's authentic style and atmosphere. And, secondly, since this is their first hit on the mobile games market, we would expect that. that their new perspective pushes the genre further in terms of gameplay mechanics, controls, features and more.
And, Grinding Gear Games promises to take that into account. The release date of Path of Exile Mobile has yet to be precisely determined, with PoE 2 beta slated for late 2020. The development process for both titles appears to be around mid-way. - course, so we can expect a period of more than a year. wait. However, the mobile version promises to be no-frills, no-frills, and no filters, while PoE 2 will definitely take us away from the feet.
