▷Paper Mario: The Origami King - Hidden Toads Galore

Seriously, there are like dozens of toads lurking in this area. This is a single screen location and there are new enemies to watch out for, but you won't come across any confusing puzzles - most of this area is completely optional. Picnic Road Walkthrough

Leaving Toad Town through the rear right exit, following the red banner, we will enter Picnic route! It is a large area populated with folded Goombas and lots of holes. Start filling them with confetti - if you need more, just smash the flowers with your hammer.

Hidden Toad # 9: There is a hidden green toad to the left of the entrance, to the right as you enter Picnic Road. Hammer out its flatness to bring it back to normal.

Hidden Toad # 10: An easy-to-miss hidden toad is on the left path. After following the road, go left on a raised ledge and look for a butterfly near the flowers. Hit this butterfly to find a secret toad!

Near the hidden toad, go down to find a fenced area. Break the fence near the bent shy guy until he falls - and you'll meet another shy foe!

How to beat shy guys: Line them up into 2 × 2 blocks and smash them with your hammer!

This small fenced area is filled with hidden toads. Do not miss them!

Hidden Toad # 11: Defeating the Shy Behind the Fence will reveal a Hidden Toad. He will return to Toad Town.
Hidden Toad # 12-14: There are three toads hidden behind the fence! Hit them all three before you leave.
Hidden Toad # 15: Hit the butterfly near the wrapped house.
Hidden Toad # 16: At the bottom of the hill on the left side of Picnic Road, follow the edge of the creek from the house down - there is a wrapped toad which is easy to miss.

Hidden Toad # 17-19: Hit the red mailbox outside the wrapped house with your hammer. There are three folded toads inside!
Hidden Toad # 20: Hit the tree to the right of the wrapped house to knock down another Folded Toad. Hit him with your hammer to free him!
Hidden Toad # 21: There is yet another toad at the top of the hill! To the right of the tree, there is a small cliff with a bottomless hole. Secure it with confetti, then hit the red butterfly with your hammer when it flies low near the flowers.
Hidden Toad # 22: At the steps where the Koopa Troopas panic, hit the yellow umbrella to open it, then descend from above to enter a small alcove with a folded toad.

Continuing on the path you will come across some strange Koopa Troopas. They will run away due to a bad situation - follow them to the right! Talk to the panicked Koopa Troopas in the bizarre pavilion on the right side of Picnic Road.

Hidden Toad # 23: Do not miss this toad! He's at the store stand to the left of the panicked pair of Koopa Troopas. Hit this toad with a hammer to unlock the Toad Town Accessory Shop.
Hidden Toad # 24-36: There are 12 toads hidden to the right of the Earth Vellumental gate! Jump on the crates, walk through the store stalls and smash the cracked block on the right to make a circle of 10000 bent arms appear. Use it to smash the cracked statue and release a ton of toads.
Hidden Toad # 37: In the exterior of the Earth Vellumental temple, use confetti to fix the holes in front of the shell door, then follow the path down. Crush the cracked statue and follow the path behind it to a hidden alcove with a spooky rat. Defeat him and smash the Folded Toad to save him.

Why are the Koopas panicking? Because a bent shy guy is trying to steal the last remaining shell on the Earth Vellumental gate! The Earth Vellumental is important to these koopa, so let's defeat the Shy Guy and save the day.

Quest: Find the Four Shells and Unlock the Vellumental Gate of Earth

Green shell stone: Sold by an Overlook Mountain dealer for 10 coins.
Yellow shell stone: Go to the save block on Overlook Mountain and defeat the hidden Goombas (use a hammer on the grass patches) to generate a 1000 arms. Use it to find this stone.
Blue shell stone: To the right of the safeguard block, take the path that goes down to the water to find a small jetty with a fishing rod. Use it to wrap the Cheep-Cheep fat in the middle of the water. Catching this leads to a fight. Defeat him to get the Blue Shell Stone.
Red seashell stone: In the Overlook Sports Park, shoot down one of the three Giant Shy Guys to get the Red Stone Ball.

Defeating this Shy Guy prevented him from stealing the last Shell Key for the Vellumental Gate, but there are still four shells left to collect.

Just keep this door in mind and head to the Picnic Road exit. Follow the path to reach your next destination. There are more hidden toads that we can catch along the way.

Hidden Toad # 38: In the middle of the pond, there is an origami goose. Use your hammer while standing on the brown block to reveal more hidden blocks - keep hitting them and you'll get close enough to hit the goose too.
Hidden Toad # 39: On the left side of Picnic Road, near the only tree, there is a yellow flower disguised with the other flowers. Hit him to reveal a secret hidden toad.
Hidden Toad # 40: Near the top exit there is a golf green. Take that hidden toad out of the sand trap!
Hidden Toad # 41: Before leaving, there is another toad hidden to grab in a tree to the right of the exit path. Above the golf course there is a ledge with this tree. Hit the tree with a hammer to reveal the toad.
Hidden Toad # 42: The exit of the first area of Picnic Road is guarded by a hidden toad. It's not a dog! Hit it with your hammer to reveal its true shape. It's important too - this toad unlocks Toad Town's Battle Lab.

Catch all those toads hidden on the way to the exit. At the top, you will enter your next real position. Overlook Mountain waits! This is where you can unbox the first of five streamers.
