New infotainment system
Despite the 9 years of career, FIAT Panda continues to reaping successes, in Italy and in Europe. The best-selling city car of the Old Continent in fact has never undergone major changes from the original project, a sign of a successful model from the start.
Although it has never indulged too much fashion, Panda arrives in 2021 with new life and a lot of technology to offer. Let's start with the juiciest and most awaited novelty especially by younger customers, who have always been lovers of "Pandino": a real infotainment system. FIAT Panda for 2021 is indeed offering one for the first time 7-inch multimedia screen, taken directly from the "little sister" 500, equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio, but above all Android Auto ed Apple Car Play.
Panda therefore leaves the solution with the smartphone holder on the dashboard only for the less equipped versions. A potentially winning accessory, but penalized by its too dominant position on the dashboard, which led to a rapid overheating of the phone in the summer.
Un integrated and very valid system as it is Uconnect (even if from the previous generation to the new Uconnect 5 present on the 500e and on Tipo) it does a decisive leap in quality in the cockpit. Its position is then perfect: at the top, slightly inclined to avoid glare from the sun, in the center of the dashboard. The absence of central vents stands out, potentially a huge problem. FIAT thought about it, and entered new vents on the top of the dashboard: to see their functioning under stress.
For the rest, Panda remains there usual beloved city car with no frills: there is everything you need, and even more with the presence of Cruise Control, rear parking sensors and excellent emergency braking.
New FIAT Panda hybrid: 1.0 Hybrid engine for all versions
The other novelty is represented by the 1.0 Mild Hybrid, which we already met last year on the Launch Editions. In fact, the coexistence of the new three-cylinder "millino" FireFly and the legendary 1.2 Fire ceases. The 4-year-old 12-cylinder is retiring, replaced by the 1.3 V mild hybrid engine across the range, starting with the basic version. The XNUMX Multijet, which greeted the company last year, is no longer there to keep him company, but he is the only one left 0.9 TwinAir, available in two versions. A 70 HP with methane fueling, the Natural power, and an 85 bhp petrol engine, available on the City Cross and the two “integral” ones.
FIAT Panda 2021: new fittings
Aesthetically and at the level of other components, Panda does not change much compared to how we have always known it. In fact, the difference comes only once you have seen the set-ups: goodbye to the old Pop, Lounge set-ups and the special "Trussardi", now Panda is available in three families: Life, Cross and Sport, intended for the city or for adventure.
1. FIAT Panda Life
Let's start with the first family, the Life. This is the first novelty in terms of fittings and characterizes FIAT Panda in a way pragmatic and simple, without paying too much attention to aesthetics or too innovative solutions. The Life family includes three installations:
- thebasic set-up, simply called Panda;
- il City Life, polished but pragmatic;
- il Wild 4×4, which allows you to take advantage of all-wheel drive in simplicity.

The preparation Panda that's what Pop has been so far: DAB radio, metal rims with wheel covers, plastic steering wheel, climate. The simplest of the Pandas, no frills.
City Life set-up
Il City Life instead it offers in addition dedicated 15 "wheels, steering wheel controls and smartphone support, and also allows you to choose the 900 turbo Natural Power. On request, it can also be equipped with the pragmatic but technological 7-inch Uconnect system.
4 × 4 Wild set-up
Finally, the 4×4 Wild is a "reissue" of the previous 4 × 4. Equipped with the solo 900 TwinAir 85 HP, offers 15 steel wheels with a very particular design, steering wheel controls, the possibility of mounting the Uconnect as for the City Life, and theexcellent 4 × 4 traction with electronic differential lock.
2. New Panda Cross
With regard to the "Family" Cross, however, nothing new. We always have the version City Cross, which offers the internal and external aesthetics and underbody protection of the Cross with only two driving wheels. The real top of the range is then the Cross equipped with all possible technological and safety equipment. Then there is no shortage greater care inside, including brand new “woody” wood-like finishes and a seat fabric with the central part made of 37% recycled material. On Panda Cross and City Cross then they are all engines available. The CityCross is offered with three engines: 1.0 Mild Hybrid, 900 TwinAir petrol with 85 HP and methane with 70 HP.
As for FIAT Panda Cross, one surprise. Together with the now legendary 900 TwinAir petrol engine with all-wheel drive, it also adopts the engine for the first time Natural power and renounces all-wheel drive, offering the front-wheel drive only. Curious choice.
3. New FIAT Panda Sport: just a hint of sportiness
The real novelty, however, is represented by FIAT Panda Sport, the “peppery” version of Panda. The quotes are alas a must, because although the aesthetics are really interesting, the mechanics remain unchanged compared to the quieter Panda Life and Cross. Indeed FIAT Panda Sport is offered only with the 1.0 FireFly Mild Hybrid engine with 70 HP and 92 Nm of torque. A rather lively and lively engine, but perhaps not what a certain sporting clientele, orphan of FIAT Panda 100 HP, he expected. In fact, the performance is not a true sports car, as was to be expected. The 0-100 km / h is covered in 13,8 seconds, while the top speed is 164 km / h, the same performance as the City Life and “Panda”.
FIAT Panda Sport, however, makes up for it with atruly captivating aesthetics, embellished with specific bumpers and mudguards, handles and mirror caps in body color. The latter can also be ordered in glossy black, optional together with the black roof, and from Sport nameplate chrome on the shield in front of the front door. Then stand out the nice 16-inch alloy wheels and the optional Matt Gray color, exclusive to Sport.
Inside then the environment is enlivened by red stitching on the seats covered in fabric, the black headliner and details in eco-leather on the dashboard and door panels and from the presence of the 7-inch Uconnect system as standard, as befits an exhibition dedicated to young people.
For the more sporty then there is the option of Pandemonium Kit, a reference to the 100 Panda 2006HP, which includes red brake calipers, a leather steering wheel with red stitching and tinted windows. Certainly this Panda Sport will not be the heir to the 100HP that we all expected, but to an everyday city car it gives that little bit more that doesn't hurt.
New FIAT Panda 2021: price on offer starting from 8.400 euros
Do not miss to see the price of the 2021 version of Panda. In fact, for FIAT Panda the price has always been one of the strong points, and the recipe doesn't change this time either. In fact, the price list starts at 13.900 euros for the Panda version offered with the 1.0 Hybrid, up to a maximum of 19.750 euros for the Cross 4 × 4.
Not a few, of course, but FIAT's strength also lies in inevitable financial offers. In fact, taking advantage of state incentives and dealer discounts, FIAT Panda is offered in Panda version starting from 8.400 euros. This price is obtainable though only with scrapping, and leveraging FCA Bank's 2021 state incentives and financing. In this case also the first installment will be in January 2022, in order to pay the first installment one year after the signing of the contract. Not bad. For those interested the price of FIAT Panda Sport, the most interesting version in our opinion, is set at 9.700 euros, always taking advantage of incentives and financing.
Panda has therefore renewed itself for 2021 and is ready to reap further successes in the city car segment, of which it is the undisputed queen. It will be enough to attract new customers and silence those who want it too "old" to be a car of this decade? We are really curious to try the new “lukewarm sporty” FIAT Panda Sport, which could turn out to be a subcompact car that may not be exciting, but certainly a lot of fun. In any case, also for 2021 FIAT Panda confirms itself as the small car to beat.
