We tested one of the new smartphones from Motorola, moto g50: a medium-low range smartphone in price, but which in this review amazed us for the fluidity of use. Above all, thanks to Android 11, which Motorola chooses to modify little and intelligently. This leads moto g50 to be one really solid proposal under 300 euros: but does it manage to detach the competition? We tell you about it in this review.
Motorola moto g50 review
Motorola has built one over the years great confidence around the moto g line, which remains firmly in all the rankings of the best budget smartphones. This year he wanted to broaden the line and push himself into the mid-range with moto g100 and g50. We tested the latter device, which came in the box with the loader from 10W, le headphones and even one transparent cover.
The smartphone has rather generous dimensions, due to the large screen and large battery: 164,9 x 74,9 x 8,95 mm and 192 grams of weight. The screen has a fairly thin bezels and a teardrop notch for the camera. It is not a smartphone that shocks for design, despite having elegant and discreet finishes. There constructive solidity which Motorola has accustomed us to it all feels. But the leap in quality this smartphone does once it is turned on, and that's what counts.
Software experience that elevates the hardware
Turning on the device we followed the Android initialization procedure, which we are used to by now. In the end, the smartphone advised us to test navigation with full screen gesture: moto g50 uses indeed Android 11. Excellent news for any smartphone released in 2021 but in particular for this price range, where it does not always happen. Not only that, Motorola has made very little changes to the system. Unnecessary applications are few and far between (Facebook, YouTube and other Google applications). A clean experience, with some clever gesture extra (moving the wrist to operate the camera, for example) and the ability to graphically customize the smartphone with Motorola software. No useless apps. And no slowdowns.
The processor Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ 480, accompanied by 4GB RAM, it is certainly not a champion in terms of performance. If you are looking for a smartphone for more extreme gaming, there are better alternatives. But the system performs really well in everything else. We surfed, watched videos and listened to podcasts, played without exaggerating and used our smartphone to work. Everything runs really smoothly, with at most some slowdown when switching from one heavy app to another. If you don't need to use particularly demanding games and applications, that's fine.
The screen from 6,5 inches HD + allows you to enjoy TV series, videos and your favorite games. The quality is good, without praise or infamy. Again Motorola did not aim to amaze but to provide a solid and well-built solution.
In daily use the only flaw we have to report is that in some calls with the speakerphone our interlocutor is there felt lower than expected at the start of the call. The problem then resolved itself: we suspect that a future software update could solve the problem entirely. The problem only showed up a couple of times and didn't bother much.

Motorola moto g50 review: impressive battery life
If the processor doesn't impress, the battery gives 5.000mAh it guaranteed a really good autonomy. We arrived at the two days promised by Motorola with average use and even in the most intense test phases we were able to cover the second day until dinner time. You can rest assured: this smartphone does not leave you in the middle of the day.
The included charger is from 10W, even if the smartphone is compatible with the quick charge to 15W. There are no record times of the top of the range this year, but in just over an hour you should fully charge the smartphone. Admission is for USB-C, so it is compatible with most chargers. Instead, wireless charging is missing.
Motorola moto g50: camera review
Motorola has equipped the moto g50 with a triple rear camera. The main sensor is from 48MP 1.6µm f/1.7 with technology quad-pixel. One accompanies her 5MP macro it's a 2MP depth sensor. They are not specious to turn heads, even in this price range. However, the quality of the shots is sufficient for most users and the camera software convinced us. Simple to use and with some cool features. There 13MP selfie camera does its duty very well, even for video calls. The group selfie option is much more interesting than our poor photographic skills suggest. Below you will find a gallery of photos taken with the moto g50.
Motorola moto g50 review: is it worth buying?
Using the moto g50 was a pleasure: the clean software experience of Android 11 and Motorola's gestures have really convinced us. The only real problem with this device is that there are far more rivals in this price range than it would like. Among these stands out the moto g 5g, which also offers the speed of new telecommunication technology. That said, the moto g50 looks like a good buy for the list price of 279,99 euros. If you were to find it under 250 euros, it would be a purchase to be made with your eyes closed: so much solidity and great autonomy. A smartphone for those who pay attention to substance. You can buy it on the Motorola website.
