Ubisoft Hyper Scape's battle royale is now in open beta, and there are quite a few differences between this version of the game and the one we were able to play during the tech test. Hyper Scape now features new content, new game modes, extended Twitch integration, and a battle pass.
Gameplay and new modes
Starting with the gameplay differences, beta players get access to the Harpy SMG and the Shockwave ability. Some of the original tools in the game have received a slight balance adjustment, with the Salvo being nerfed again. This time the change is in his projectile's trigger range, which is now smaller.
Hyper Scape will have two main game modes during the Open Beta: Crown Rush Solo and Crown Rush Squads. Unlike the limited-time Dark Haze mode, Crown Rush Solo is just a regular Crown Rush match, except with 100 players in the lobby, each fending for themselves. During the Open Beta, players will also be able to play in two other LTMs: Hack Runner and Turbo Mode. Both modes are for squads only.
Battle Pass and Crowncast
The Hyper Scape open beta has its own Battle Pass and like the game itself, it's tied to the use of Twitch. The 30 levels of the pass contain a number of cosmetic items, some of which are exclusive to Twitch Prime. Not only that, but players who have linked their Ubisoft account to their Twitch account can actually level up during battle by watching streams.
As long as you watch a streamer play Hyper Scape through the Crowncast expansion, you can get up to two levels of Battle Pass per day without even playing. The limit is there for a reason, as Ubisoft states that they would prefer "playing the game to be the best way to level up". On that note, Crowncast also allows streamers to invite their viewers to their teams so they can get in on the action.
How to join the Hyper Scape Open Beta
At this time, only PC players can enter the beta. If you're playing on PC, you can sign up through Ubisoft's official Hyper Scape beta page. The open beta began on July 12, and there is currently no end date given. All cosmetic items and in-game progress earned during the Open Beta will be incorporated into the official version of the game.
