One of the most used applications in the world is Instagram which was born in 2010 but only in recent years has it seen an ever-increasing popularity. With over a billion users worldwide, Instagram is the most used app for sharing videos and photos of anything.
Having started out as a mobile application, Instagram only after a long time created the "desktop" version. If you are an Instagram user and spend a lot of time in front of a computer, you might be interested in knowing how to use Instagram from PC. Below we will take a look at all the ways to use Instagram on a computer.
Access Instagram from your PC
This is the simplest and most basic way to use Instagram. The big difference between Instagram on the phone and Instagram on PC is that the latter adds a two-column layout with a toolbar at the top. With more space to play with, Instagram ensures greater visibility of post text and stories.
To get started, log into your account Instagram through any browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc ...). You will quickly find that your main feed is on the left side which serves as the main column. Like the mobile app, if there are multiple photos or videos, you'll see an arrow indicating that a range of content is available. There is room for "Add a comment”On each post and a space to view all current comments.
La toolbar at the top of the screen offers a search bar for any search you need to perform. The second icon looks like a paper airplane and relates to the “direct messaging” function. The third icon, which looks like the Safari browser icon, is for discovery, including new users and trending content. The final icon on the toolbar is the heart, which acts as a notification center. All of this should be instantly familiar to any user who already uses Instagram on mobile. Below the toolbar icons and to the right of the main feed are all your current ones stories on instagram. Click to view each story or to the right of one story to view the next. If there are any Instagram Live videos, you will see a “Live” tag next to the story and you can view it online.
Post photos and stories to Instagram from your computer
By all accounts, Instagram wants your desktop application to be primarily a display and takes you to the mobile application to post new content. However, a number of alternative solutions have emerged over time, the most popular being the trick "User Agent". This action "tricks" the Instagram desktop site into thinking about using a mobile page. It works on all major browsers including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and many more.
a) Publish Content on Instagram from macOS
For example, for Mac users, changing the “User Agent” in Safari is really simple.
1. Open your browser and click on the word “Safari” from the taskbar at the top of the screen.
2. Select "Pref Renze"From the drop-down menu and then click on the"AdvancedWhich is the farthest tab on the right.
3. Find the “Show Develop menu in menu bar” option at the bottom of the tab Advanced and make sure it's checked.
4. You should now see a new option at the top of the taskbar called “Development". Click on it and the second option labeled “User Agent".
5. Click on the option "Safari – iOS 13.1.3 – iPhone”Located under the currently selected Default option.
6. Safari will now appear as a mobile device (iPhone) and you will see the Instagram page change and a button "+”At the bottom of the page
7. This "trick" works fine but there are some limitations as the desktop will not allow you to add more images or videos.
b) Publish Content on Instagram from Windows PC
Changing the user agent on Chrome is just as simple. Open your browser and click the menu button at the far right of the search bar. The menu button looks like three dots stacked on top of each other. Select "More Tools", then "Developer Tools".
As the developer tools appear, a series of text options will appear at the top. Click the one labeled "PARTNERS“, Then click on the menu option to the right of“ Network ”which again shows up as three vertical dots. Go to "More Tools -> Network conditions".
The bottom of the screen will show an option for “User Agent”. Uncheck the "Automatically select" box, and then select a "mobile" browser.
Send Instagram Messages from PC
Instagram recently announced the ability to send messages from your PC. As mentioned above, this option is located at the top of the screen near the toolbar and looks like a paper airplane. Click on the icon and within this screen you can read and reply to messages, share photos or start a new chat.
