The users registered on Facebook are undoubtedly many, but not all of them wish to appear actively on the aforementioned social network. Several are in fact those who use the service to spend a few minutes watching pictures and updates of friends and relatives, but without ever interacting or posting any content. For the same reason, they prefer to be substantially "invisible" within Facebook searches. Obviously it is possible to do it in an absolutely simple way.
How to hide the Facebook profile in searches
And let's start with the primary goal of this article: to reduce searches related to your Facebook profile. Before we begin though, we anticipate that, for your convenience, we will perform the steps directly from the desktop website.
- Log into Facebook from your desktop website by adding your credentials
- Click on the triangle icon pointing down at the top right
- Continue with "Settings and privacy" and then with "Settings"
- click “Privacy” in the left column
- Go down to the section "How people find and contact you"
- click "Edit" to the right of each setting and select the privacy level to add (everyone, friends, friends of friends or just me)
- click "Do you want search engines outside Facebook to redirect to your profile?" and uncheck the box "Allow search engines outside Facebook to redirect to your profile", in order to avoid that your profile also appears on Google, Bing and other search engines
- Go back to home page
Unfortunately, at least for the moment, it is not possible to remove your profile from Facebook search (unless you deactivate the profile, but in this case Facebook cannot be used in any way).
Restrict tags on Facebook photos
By default, anyone can tag any Facebook profile on their photos, unless you customize your preference from the Privacy settings.
- Log into Facebook from your desktop website by adding your credentials
- Click on the triangle icon pointing down at the top right
- Continue with "Settings and privacy" and then with "Settings"
- click "Profile and tagging" in the left column
- In the "Tag", click on "Edit" to the right of the two available options
- Choose how to manage tags and which users will be able to reach their profile from other users' public photos
Hide your future posts on Facebook
In the event that you decide to start publishing new content yourself, but you want to make it available only to certain people, you will have to go back to the general settings once again.
- Log into Facebook from your desktop website by adding your credentials
- Click on the triangle icon pointing down at the top right
- Continue with "Settings and privacy" and then with "Settings"
- click “Privacy” in the left column
- Go down to the section "Your activities"
- click "Edit" to the right of all options to be changed
- Choose the level of privacy to add (everyone, friends, friends of friends or just me) for each of them
In this case, you can even create a group "Close friends" in order to make the posts visible only to certain people.
Block users on Facebook
If, on the other hand, you want to block some users and thus prevent them from being able to receive information on their personal profile, all you need to do is proceed as follows.
- Log into Facebook from your desktop website by adding your credentials
- Click on the triangle icon pointing down at the top right
- Continue with "Settings and privacy" and then with "Settings"
- click "Block someone" in the left column
- Enter the name and surname of the profile to be blocked in the bar of each setting and click on "Block" on his right
