Exit the Gungeon has three hidden characters that require certain steps to access. While none of them go through a long process like in Enter the Dungeon, in this game players still have to reach certain in-game milestones to play the hidden characters.
Get Out of the Gungeon is more of a spin-off than a sequel. It's smaller and watered down, although the basic mechanics are very similar.
How to unlock the ball
The ball is exactly what it looks like: a big yellow ball with a face. Chances are, when players are considering unlocking, they've already encountered Bullet. A similar version exists as regular enemies in the game.
The Bullet is the first and only natural unlock. With such a simple requirement to add the ball to your team, players are likely to fall over it without realizing it. The ball unlocks after successfully exiting the dungeon with any character. Players simply have to beat the game once to get to the ball.
Each character has their own unique passive ability, as in Enter the Dungeon. The passive of the Bullet is called Live Ammo. Live ammo removes damage from hitting enemies and increases damage dealt when dodge rolls at enemies. This is a useful mechanic as players will use the dodge roll frequently during the game, and will likely find their way through enemies in the process.
The ball should unlock naturally for players as they progress through the difficult dungeon climber. However, the ball will also be needed for players to unlock other hidden characters. For a quick rundown on how to unlock all characters, check out our guide.
