The biggest limitation of WhatsApp, the world's most popular instant messaging app, is the lack of a valid service multiplatform. This is in fact available, as a real application, only on smartphones (Android and iOS), while it cannot be used on iPads, unless the web mode is used (uncomfortable and certainly not very functional). In this guide, we want to help you overcome this obstacle, showing you all the steps to follow to download and install the WhatsApp app on any iPad.
Premise
Before we start, however, let's see some useful tips and all the tools you need to complete the procedure. Obviously it is absolutely mandatory make a backup of your device, since, while not taking advantage of the Jailbreak, we will go to operate in "unusual" ways. In particular, we will focus on "Cydia Impactor", a service capable of installing apps on iOS devices, without necessarily having to go through the App Store. We therefore invite you to download the aforementioned software for Windows or macOS by clicking on the link below (depending on the operating system).
Obviously, you will also need to download the WhatsApp file and to do so, all you need to do is click once again on the links below. The download must be done on the computer and not on the iPad.
- Cydia Impactor | Windows
- Cydia Impactor | Mac OS X
- WhatsApp | iPad (download to computer)
We also remind you that WhatsApp can only be used on one device at a time and if you decide to activate it using your main number, it can no longer be used on your smartphone.
How to install WhatsApp on iPad via WhatsPad ++
As you have surely noticed, the previously downloaded WhatsApp file is called “WhatsPad ++”, which is a specially modified app that can work on iPad (and iPod Touch too). Obviously this is necessary, since the official service has not been developed to work on the aforementioned devices. Having said that, let's see immediately how to proceed.
- Connect the iPad to the computer via cable (if the authorization warning appears, agree)
- Launch the Cydia Impactor app and check that it recognizes the connected device (appears in the top panel of the small window)
- Drag the previously downloaded WhatsApp file onto the Cydia Impactor window (at this point the file name should appear in the bottom panel)
- click "Start" and, if requested, enter your Apple ID account email and password (the one you usually use to download apps from the App Store)
- Wait for the installation which should not take more than 5 minutes
At this point, the WhatsApp icon will automatically appear on the iPad home screen. Clicking it, however, will not run and will show a warning. To fix it, just open the app "Settings", continue with "General", "Profile and device management" and verify the same application.
