Fort of the Damned is a heavy raid in Sea of Thieves. You and a full crew want to tackle the most difficult fort in the game. However, you cannot find it on the map and enter it. You need to perform several tasks to activate it. The first thing to do is to acquire six Flames of Fate, which you can get when you die. However, you must die in a specific way for each flame.
Obtain the six flames of fate
Each flame of fate is different. So that the flame of fate is activated in the afterlife. These are the six flames:
- Red Flame - Flame of fire, dying to the flames
- Pink Flame - Pirate Flame, single player dying
- Green Flame - Flame of Skellies, Dying to Skeletons
- White flame - Flame of lightning, dying from a thunderbolt
- Blue Flame - Flame of sharks, dying to sharks
- Purple Flame - Flame of snakes, dying to a snake
The harshest flames are the pirate and lightning. The other flames are fairly easy to acquire and you can even get them on your travels by catching the two harder flames. To earn Pirate's Flame, you must perish to an enemy player, and Lightning Flame is given to you if you die from a lightning strike. You might want to catch love at first sight first, because if it takes a long time for a member of your crew to die from a lightning strike, you may lose your ship in a terrible storm. When that happens and you have the other five flames, it could demoralize everyone pretty quickly because you have to start over.
The other four, Flame of Fire, Pirates, Sharks, and Snakes, are something you can visit as one of the many Islands in Sea of Thieves to add to your collection. If you have a hard time locating sharks, you might want to visit the notable wrecks you come across on your travels. They frequent these and other places, such as Megalodon and naval battles. You want to avoid looking for them in calm waters, however.
Add the flame of fate to your lantern
When you die and appear on the Ferry of the Damned, take your lantern out of your inventory and turn it on. Approach the Well of Fate in the center of the Ferry of the Damned and accept the Flame of Fate. Your lantern should now be the color of the task you completed. When you return to your ship, choose one of your ship's lights to extinguish and place your new flame there. You need your ship to transport the six flames of fate.
Those who grasp the more difficult tasks, such as the Pink and White Flame, may choose not to do the other tasks because the Flame Swap removes them from the character's lanterns. The flames remain the same color even if you put the lantern back in your inventory. You will not be able to relight them on your ship if any lights go out. It is better that other crew members take care of the small tasks.
When your ship contains the Six Flames of Fate inside the Lamps, you are ready to go in search of the Ritual Skull.
