This Friday, Need for Speed returns to roar on the scene with Heat, a game that will put more emphasis on street racing and police escape, rather than the story-based content we've seen before Need for Speed. : return on investment. For some, it will be a welcome return to form, giving them plenty of opportunities to get their antics off at high speed.
And to maintain that speed, you will have to learn to drift. This will allow you to accelerate in tight corners without hitting anything, provided you can do it correctly. This system takes a bit of practice, but we've got the steps to help you master drift like a real racer.
Is your car drifting?
First of all, the fin system you use depends on what you are riding. There are cars in Need Heat Quick that are custom built with drift in mind. Obviously, you'll be able to see this pretty well before the events, so here's what you need to do when you have one of these cars.
Make sure you get up to speed. Then just apply the brakes a little. Do not block on it, otherwise you will come to a complete stop. Instead, just press down a bit until you start to see your car drifting away. Once that is done, take the steering and lean into the drift. Once done, center yourself and get back on the road.
And for the rest of the walks ...
Now let's say you only use a standard car. There is another drifting system out there, although it takes a bit longer to master as it involves your emergency brake.
You can activate it by pressing the square or the X button, depending on whether you're playing on the PS4 or Xbox One version. (The function of the PC may vary.) But, as with normal brakes, you don't want to descend completely, or you will lose all the speed you have accumulated. Instead, try tapping on it, to the point that you notice your car slipping a bit. Then set up the steering to lean into the drift and you should be good to go.
But here is the Surefire solution
You will notice that the previous methods come with some risk, due to the acceleration you might lose by hitting the normal brake or the emergency brake. But there's a way to drift that doesn't involve either, and may be the best way to keep up with Chaleur.
This involves triggering the acceleration. This is the R2 button on the PlayStation 4 or the RT trigger on the Xbox One. (On PC this may vary depending on the type of controller.)
All you have to do is let go of the throttle as you head around the corner. After leaning on it, go ahead and press it again. You will come back up to speed and have the drift going. You'll just need to level out once you're done with your turn.
All of these methods can be mastered over time, so feel free to try them all and see what works for you. But remember, keep the pedal to the metal or the cops might just get you!
