Google has also decided to expand the potential of its smart speaker, following in the footsteps of its number one competitor: Amazon Echo. The latter device in fact, has the call function since the english debut, something that the Mountain View company has decided to add only after some time. In particular, thanks to the application of Google Home, available on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, it is also possible to make the aforementioned calls between mobile devices and smart speakers. Today we will therefore see how to do this.
Google Duo calls between smartphone and smart speaker
A fundamental thing to know before starting, is that all this will work only if, within the settings of your smart speaker, the call with Duo. If this is not the case, we invite you to activate them by following the procedure below.
- Open the app "Google Home" su smartphone o tablet Android o iOS
- On the main page, select the relevant smart cashier
- Click on the settings icon at the top right
- Go down and click on "Calls with Duo"
- Complete the steps that appear and activate the calls
Once this is done, returning to the main screen of the same app, a new button will automatically appear "Call home" (update the app or close it from multitasking and reopen it if it does not appear) which, if pressed, will initiate a call (via data connection or Wi-Fi of course) to the configured smart speakers. In case you own a Google Home Hub Max, the call will be video, otherwise only voice.
