The internal parts of your starfighter make your ship unique from the rest in Star Wars: Squadrons. There are two factions to choose from, the Galactic Empire and the New Republic. There are four Star Hunter models available to both teams to choose from, giving the impression that there are minimal options available to players. However, a team with two X-wing pilots, or two Y-wings pilots, will have drastically different components, giving those pilots unique abilities.
How to acquire more components?
You get more thanks to demand points. You earn these points by playing the game and completing challenges. The more you play, the more demand points you earn, giving you access to a wider variety of options.
How many types of components do you use?
There are seven slots available on your ship. However, there are a few ships that don't have a shield generator slot available, like the TIE-fighter, and will only have seven.
- Primary weapons
- Auxiliary (x2)
- Countermeasures
- shell
- Shields
- Moteurs
These components break down into three of them being used as passive components, and four of them are active. You can choose the positive and negative aspects of each as your ideal battleship.
Passive components
Passive components are always available and ready on your starfighter. These consist of your hunter's engines, hull, and shields. Changes to these components vary in how they affect your ship's stats. For example, you can use a component for your engine that creates a massive explosion after you die, potentially damaging other fighters near you. You can also use a shield model that's extremely effective at deflecting blaster fire, but takes more damage when hit by a missile.
Active components
The active components of your starfighter are those that you must activate manually during air combat. These are the main weapons, auxiliary components and countermeasures of your fighter. Much like the passive components, your active choices make your starfighter a special ship. Your primary weapon on your X-wing might have a higher rate of fire than the standard model. Still, he may not do as much damage, encouraging you to stay closer to your opponents to land as many hits as possible.
Auxiliary components in your starfighter allow you to really have fun with whatever creative abilities you have. In this slot, you can have an astromech partner who can do quick repairs to keep your hunter flying, or different types of orders, such as torpedoes, bombs, and some fighters can even use mines. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use two similar models, so no double-down on two astromechs to keep your wings in the air. The same goes for countermeasures, which is how you come out of a meeting and try to regroup with your comrades.
The standard X-wing and TIE-fighter model available to players will be a balanced starfighter, ideal for any encounter. But when you spend a few minutes tinkering with your favorite ship, that's where the depth comes in. You can choose what kind of maneuvers and tactics you want to use with your starfighter for your crew. Players can choose to spend hours under the hood of their fighter's engine or jump straight into the cockpit and fly through the stars.
