Once has conducted a new survey on its users to understand the stress level of subscribers to dating applications and thus provide some useful advice to avoid being overwhelmed by agitation.

The long period of forced lockdown has made us rediscover the desire to take more time for essential things. A discourse that seems to be valid also for the world of dating, where the high rhythms of "swipe" and "like" have led Italian singles to confess that they experience the world of online dating with a high level of stress. Over half of the singles interviewed (the 54,7%) use at least two or three different dating apps and 40,4% use them for 15 to 60 minutes a day. However, the continued use of dating apps causes stress for one in three singles.
Stress related to perspectives
What are the main sources of stress related to dating apps? Getting a match (49,7%), chatting (39,7%), managing multiple matches at the same time (20,6%) and the idea of a first date (20,4%). Not only that, one in five singles (21,5%) confessed that social media also increases the level of stress related to the sphere of dating. Another cause for concern is the superficiality of the users within the apps.

Presentation anxiety
Interestingly, Italians have high hopes for potential partners: the 56% of the singles interviewed say they have high expectations towards their matches, as the high number of profiles proposed requires the need to want to look for someone able to stand out from the crowd. Regarding the first date, although the majority of respondents (38%) said they were happy to want to meet their match in person, one in five singles (21,7%) confessed to feeling very nervous and insecure about the first meeting in real life.
