Halo: Reach launched on PC via Steam and the Windows Store. Although launching Steam seems to be virtually no problem, some Windows Store or Xbox app players are having difficulty launching the game. After installing the game through the app and clicking the Play button, the Xbox app will be kept to a minimum, but the game itself will not launch. It's an annoying problem, but luckily the solution is quite simple.
If you are having difficulty launching Halo: Go through the Windows Store or the Xbox app, then follow the steps below to try to run it through the Xbox Console Companion:
- Open the start menu
- Scroll down to the Xbox console
- Open the app
- Search for "My games"
- Scroll down to Halo: The Master Chief Collection
- Click on Play
You can also type "Xbox Console Companion" in the search bar next to the Start button to find the app. This method will work for a lot of people, but some players have reported a crash after the logo screen. If this happens, make sure you have the latest installed drivers for your GPU installed.
For Nvidia you want 441.41, and for AMD you want 19.12.1. You can check your drivers using software from any of the companies and make sure they are up to date.
If the game still doesn't work well for you, go to the install folder, find the game's executable file, right-click on it and choose to run it as administrator. Hopefully Microsoft will have a suitable solution to this issue soon and you can launch the game usually through Windows Store or Xbox App.
