What is the Pokémon GO Halloween Cup
The Halloween Cup is a themed version of the regular Pokémon GO Battle League. By selecting the Poké Ball menu button at the bottom of the screen, then Battle, you will enter the PvP area of Pokémon GO. Here you enter the GO Battle League which pits two teams of three against each other in PvP battles. You can select any Pokémon that matches the type restrictions and the current CP limit. The Halloween Cup begins today, October 26 at 13 p.m. PT and continues through Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 13 p.m. PT.
Which Pokémon can be in the Halloween Cup
The Pokémon GO Halloween Cup limits players to only characters of the following types: Poison, Bug, Ghost, Dark, and Fairy. This would already make the game quite difficult, as you cannot choose some of the biggest and best that you have prepared in your collection. However, on top of that, all Pokémon must be 1500 CP or less. This is usually the big league limit, with Ultra bringing it to 2500 CP and the Master League allowing any level of CP. The teams will therefore be quite difficult to choose from your collection. We do, however, have a few recommendations.
The best teams, which Pokémon to choose
With these many restrictions, there's no easy answer to what the best teams in the Pokémon GO Halloween Cup are. Really, unless you've put a lot of Candy and Stardust into characters that meet the requirement, you can often choose the highest CP you have, making sure to mix up the types so you don't get too vulnerable to opponents. Below are some quick and easy recommendations ...
The best way to deal with a restricted Battle League like this is to look at what you have that could be powerful and have the right movement. If any of the above is ready to go, you need to add them to your squad, making sure to verify that all three of your squad aren't weak against the same types. If so, try to mix things up and make sure you have counters against these types ready to go. Once you've picked one or two of your top teams, you can swap out the third until you find a group that works well and wins for you. What do you get for these victories?
What are the rewards and prizes
The Pokémon GO Halloween Cup offers a lot of the usual rewards, including Stardust, Berries, and TM, but the big reward this time around is the encounters. These will be Halloween themed, offering the costumed entries that were available through other methods in the past. As you win battles, you'll encounter costumed Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander along the way. And by ranking throughout the season, you'll earn end-level rewards that can include EliteTMs.
