Far Cry is one of Ubisoft's flagship products and over the years his releases have not failed to attract swarms of fans from all over the world. Far Cry 6 is the latest addition to a long list of games, which in addition to numbered chapters, three spin offs and three remakes. So let's go see everything we know about Far Cry 6, from the plot to its gameplay.
Far Cry 6: Plot and release date
The first element has immediately piqued the imagination of the fans is the narrative plot of Far Cry 6, which is configured as a direct sequel to the fifth chapter. The game is set in a fictional tropical archipelago, specifically on the island of Yara, very similar to our Cuba. This Caribbean paradise is subject to El Presidente, a dictator named Antòn Castillo played by Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian).
Castillo is trying to prepare his son Diego to follow in his footsteps as the winds of revolution rise through the streets of Yara. In this tumultuous context, we the players will take on the role of Dani Rojas, a guerrilla determined to overthrow the regime and regain his freedom.
Navid Khavari, game director of the game, explained that the main theme of the game had to be from the beginning that of the revolution and, when the team began to do research in this sense, it was decided to opt for a setting reminiscent of the Cuban revolution of the 50s. This allowed the developers to also opt for a tropical setting, an element of continuity with the previous Far Cry chapters.
The director also specified that the game has been in development for 4 years and that this is the most ambitious Far Cry ever, with a great variety of scenarios in which we can act.
Far Cry 6 is scheduled for release on October 7th on Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Stadia, Amazon Luna and PC via Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store. As you have surely already guessed, the title will have a version optimized for next gen consoles, which will guarantee fast loading, 4K resolution and 60 FPS on Ps5, while on Xbox Series X | S the game should run at 120 frames per second.
The gameplay and the spirit of the "resolver"
As we said in Far Cry 6 we will play the role of Dani Rojas, former soldier and now a guerrilla for freedom. We will be able to choose whether to play with a male or female version of the protagonist and we will immediately be catapulted into the guerrilla movement to overthrow Antòn's regime.
As can be seen from the latest gameplay trailer released by Ubisoft, during the events of the game we will find ourselves joining forces with a varied cast of characters, among which Juan Cortez, guerrilla master and former KGB spy, who kindly offered us his narrative voice throughout the four-minute film.
To have even one chance to defeat Castillo's men, players will have to adopt the spirit of "solve“, A kind of philosophy rooted in Yara's story based on using any tool at our disposal to fight and wreak havoc as lethal as it is fun. From guns to literally sardine cans.
Judging by the trailer it seems that the game will allow users to combine different materials found in the field with each other, like the backpack launches missiles or the machine gun powered by an old motorcycle engine. Obviously, however, there will also be the traditional customized vehicles and pleasantly over the top typical of the series, which will help us to rain death on the totalitarian regime of El Presidente.
Far Cry 6 will finally be released in three different editions: the Gold Ultimate and Collector's Edition. The latter is particularly noteworthy because, in addition to various collectibles, it contains a life-size replica of the Tostador weapon, a flamethrower for roasting one's enemies.
